Amanda, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I think after years of having low self stem, not feeling beautiful, and scared I wouldn’t like how I look on my future wedding day, the makeup called me, and I stared loving to do my own, and I wanted to people around me to love their look as much I did when I was all makeup. And that was how I found my purpose as a mua!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Amanda Morais I’m a make up artist and hairstylists for a wedding and event, I am 28 years old. I was born and raised in Brazil and moved to the united state at 2017, my passion for make up and hair is started since I was a little girl I always loved to my friends make up my own make up and see people getting ready and looking beautiful, but in 2017 when I moved to the US I decided to pursue as a career and the wedding industry was always my passion. I was loved to be part of a such a special day and memorable day as a wedding I think every little girl dream about their wedding day and they always think how they going to look at my love to be part of that dream coming true making my brights love how they look on their at their special days. My biggest focus right now is become one of the most recognizable artist in Atlanta for the Wedding industry. I want to become a reference of experience of hair and make up on their wedding day.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking one of the qualities, I think that help me to get where I am. He was always trust my gut, believe in me and trust the process. When you’re starting your career as a make up artist, you usually compare yourself a lot with other artist and you think to yourself that you’re not good enough at least I felt a lot that way in the beginning of my career until I understand that I need to trust what I like it and what I love it as a Beauty on the service for hair and make up because the clients that want my service they gonna like my style. Believing in yourself is very hard, sometimes specially, in our journey when we do something and someone doesn’t like it, it makes you doubt of your work of your technique all of your talent, so you always should. Trust yourself in the life is a journey that you learn every single day not everyone’s gonna like what are you do but it’s always gonna have people that like what are you do. And I think that the best advice I can give to another make up artist out, there is stop comparing yourself always work to be better at your job and find your style because that’s going to make you stand out from other artists
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did to me it was deciding to move from Brazil and leave our family behind to try their lives here in the US when my parents decided to do that they did for me and for my sisters, because they already had their life all work it out in Brazil, but they change everything so they could give us a bigger opportunity to find ourselves in another country, so I can’t thanks them enough for doing that because of that change was the reason I decided to become a make up artist even loving so much make up in Brazil. I never thought about it being a mua over there. So for me that was the most important thing they could do in my life and now here in the US, I have my career I have my husband I have my son I have my life here. here became my home.
