Meet Amanda Moreno

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amanda Moreno a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Amanda, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

Definitely my parents! They are always working they both have their own businesses. One thing about growing up in a business family they’re going to put you to work! I learned my work ethic from seeing first hand how hard of a worker both were and still are til this day.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a 10yr master colorist and I specialize in color correction. I work with clients who’ve received a botched color service from others and I transform them into the color of their dreams!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three skills I say that have helped me through my journey are precision, timing and patience. It’s important to know precision because when working with colors, you need to understand where and why to place a color to achieve a desired look. Timing is important because you need to understand how long to leave color on the hair and you also have to know how to move quickly yet precisely when dealing with certain chemicals on the hair. Patience is important because everyone’s hair is different some may process quicker than others while some might take multiple services. The best advice I could give to those who are barely starting their journey is be open to learning and if you make a mistake understand and learn from it to know what not to do next time. Also, don’t be too hard on yourself keep going and keep learning every day.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was move me highschools to take a cosmetology program. That change was the beginning to my whole career. I am thankful they decided to make that decision for my future.
