Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amanda Seeberger. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Amanda, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I spent 7 ½ years at Macy’s in various roles, gaining invaluable experience in fashion merchandising, digital marketing, and operations. While I always dreamed of owning my own boutique, I wasn’t ready to take that leap straight out of college, so I started my career in the corporate fashion world.
The Covid pandemic in 2020 brought unexpected changes. Working remotely allowed me to relocate to Oregon after marrying my husband in October 2023. Adjusting to life on the West Coast, far from our families in New York, was challenging but taught us resilience. We leaned on each other, explored new opportunities, and grew stronger through the experience.
In April 2024, Macy’s announced a return-to-office policy that jeopardized my remote position. With my husband’s job search in the Northeast ongoing and my dissatisfaction growing, I saw this as my chance to pursue my passion. I officially launched Always Amalfi in June 2024, inspired by my love for fashion, the Amalfi Coast, and my Italian American heritage.
Initially a side hustle, Always Amalfi became my full-time focus after I left Macy’s in August 2024. Building the business has required long hours, networking, and learning from experts like The Product Boss. It hasn’t been easy, but seeing my dream come to life has been deeply rewarding. My family’s encouragement and my determination have helped me grow Always Amalfi into a brand that serves customers with care and passion.
Now back on the East Coast in Toms River, NJ, I’m grateful for the journey that has shaped me and thrilled to continue building my business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m the owner and founder of Always Amalfi, an online boutique offering women’s and men’ s apparel and gifting inspired by the Amalfi Coast, while celebrating Italian American culture and style. My goal is to bring clients a piece of Italy, no matter where they are, at an attainable price point.
What excites me most is sharing the charm of Italy through thoughtfully curated collections. Recently, I launched two new lines:
The Amalfi Citrus Collection, inspired by the vibrant lemon groves of Italy, adds Mediterranean charm to any kitchen.
The Positano Collection, crafted in Italy by skilled artisans, blends authenticity and luxury into every piece.
Despite their quality, all gifting is under $100, and apparel is under $110, ensuring accessibility without compromising on craftsmanship.
While Always Amalfi is fully online, I love connecting with clients at in-person pop-up events, which let people see, feel, and try on products while I’m there to assist. I’m excited to host more pop-ups in NJ this year and work on expanding into other boutiques through wholesale opportunities.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are openness, persistence, and the ability to network. Openness allowed me to embrace opportunities and challenges, even when they felt outside my comfort zone. Persistence kept me moving forward despite setbacks or uncertainty. And networking opened doors I didn’t even know existed, proving time and again how valuable genuine connections can be.
For those just starting out, my advice is to stay consistent and keep showing up, even when progress feels slow. Consistency builds momentum. Also, don’t hesitate to put yourself out there- networking isn’t just about meeting people; it’s about building relationships. You never know which connection could spark a new opportunity, collaboration, or idea that propels you forward.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My husband, my parents, and my siblings have been instrumental in helping me overcome challenges, develop essential skills, and gain the knowledge I’ve needed to be successful. Whether I’m sharing a new idea for my business, venting about a setback or seeking advice, they are always there to listen, support, and guide me.
My husband has been by my side at every pop-up shop, providing hands-on help and encouragement that has been invaluable during these events. My parents and siblings, too, have shown their unwavering support by attending the pop-up shops they could make and cheering me on from afar.
Our relationship is built on mutual respect and the ability to challenge each other’s beliefs, which creates a healthy balance and fosters growth. I can always count on them not only to engage with me but also support my business journey, including on social media, where their involvement means so much. Their encouragement has truly been a cornerstone of my success.
