Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amara Hoddy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amara, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive by staying deeply connected to my everyday experiences—whether it’s running my thrift boutique, managing my modeling agency, or creating content as a young mom. Inspiration comes from everything around me: the unique pieces I curate, the people I work with, and even the challenges I face.
I also love reinventing myself and my projects. If something starts feeling stagnant, I switch things up—whether it’s a rebrand, a new business idea or even just a personal lifestyle change. I make space for spontaneity, but I also remind myself that creativity thrives on consistency. Some days, I let myself rest and absorb inspiration, and other days, I push through creative blocks by taking action, even when I don’t feel like it.
Creativity isn’t just a part of what I do—it’s how I navigate life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My main focus in life is to make an impact on people, and I can say confidently that I know I have and I will continue to keep my purpose as inspiration and motivation for others around me, in so many ways.
I wear a lot of hats— Mom, entrepreneur, model, content creator, and even artist—but at the core of everything I do is creativity and reinvention. I run a retail shop, Hoddy Collective, where I curate unique fashion that tells a story and empowers others through freedom of expression. I also founded Sovana Agency, a digital modeling agency made to provide, uplift and elevate artists through events, campaigns and so much more. And through my content on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook; I share my journey as a creative, giving people a real and relatable look into my world.
What excites me most about my work is the freedom to build something that feels authentic. Whether it’s helping a model land opportunities, giving a piece a new home, or creating content that resonates with others, I love seeing how my ideas come to life and impact people.
My brand is all about confidence, self-expression, and breaking the mold. I believe in chasing what excites you, embracing evolution, and never being afraid to start over. I’ve gone through phases of rapid success and many seasons of burnout, but I always find my way back to what fuels me. That’s the message I hope to share.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, strength, and self-loyalty. Resilience has helped me push through setbacks, understanding that success isn’t a straight path but a series of highs and lows. Strength has allowed me to stand firm in my vision, set boundaries, and prove to myself that I can handle more than I once believed. But above all, self-loyalty has been crucial—I’ve learned that true fulfillment comes from trusting my instincts and staying committed to what I truly want, not just what looks good on paper. For anyone early in their journey, my biggest advice is to stay consistent, trust your pace, and never let temporary struggles or difficult obstacles make you forget how powerful you and your brain are.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
Oh how I love this question because the most impactful person in my life has been my stepmom Adyan. To answer how; because she taught me the importance of always learning as much as you can and that knowledge is power. No matter what stage of life you’re in, there’s always more to learn, and that mindset has shaped everything I do. She made me realize that if you stay curious and keep growing, you’ll always find a way forward. Read books, read blogs, read articles, read medical studies, read fashion magazines; learn everything.
