We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amari Samya . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amari below.
Amari, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Having faith that each and every opportunity you receive is for your better self. Even if the opportunity doesn’t go as planned you have to understand that it’s there to shape and mold who you are to become. When you have this mindset you are more accepting to the processes and feel more assured within yourself within every opportunity and space you fulfill.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Over the last 9 months we at Selfie Cincy have curated a one of a kind immersive photography museum that highlights various Cincinnati based brands, businesses, and local artists. We have designed and constructed over 15 creative installations in under a year, offering a space for our visitors to explore positivity through art and passion all in one space.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Absolutely perseverance, patience, and optimism. I think theirs so much beauty in putting flesh on the ideas that you have in your mind but also overcoming the obstacles in order to bring them to life. Growing up I never wanted to stay in Cincinnati to start my own business. Choosing to go to college almost 600 miles away from my hometown was an act of rebellion but also my first step towards resilience. Sometimes you have to stick your neck out there for something you believe in. Coming back home after being away for 6 years I felt it was now my time to bring something positive back from my years of exploration. Life had shown me so much art within those 6 years that I feel truly shaped my authenticity. My advice to anyone early in their journey would be to focus on passion and purpose not success.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes collaboration is key. Selfie Cincy is looking to partner with entrepreneurs, artists, business owners who would like to showcase their brand, business, or talent in the physical form of a selfie installation. Our goal is to curate up to 8 new selfie installations that highlight our key collaborations over the next 6 months. If that is you or your brand send us an email to [email protected] with the heading “PARTNER”.
