Meet Amarion Chang

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amarion Chang. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amarion below.

Amarion, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
It’s safe to say my resilience comes from having lupus. When diagnosed, it felt like it stripped me of everything that made me who I am. I wanted things to be normal, knowing that wasn’t a possibility for me. As time passed, I realized my life was mine to live, and having lupus didn’t define me. Although I have bad days, I believe those days are the most important. Lupus gave me the strength to push past my limitations; for that, I am grateful.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I own Avenue51, which is a jewelry brand for men and women. I’ve worn and customized jewelry all my life, so I wanted everyone else to experience it with me. My business represents the creatives and individualists of society. The support I receive from the youth is most special to me. We all have someone we look up to. I didn’t think I’d be in that position at twenty-two. It’s a surreal and humbling encounter. I’m currently rebranding Avenue51, which will feature all new pieces for both men and women, along with a new website. Be on the lookout for April 2024.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Customer service, time management, and networking are primary in business. Due to my experience sharing with others, I excelled in customer service and adequately tending to the customers’ needs. Time management is vital for me because one overlapped schedule could derail everything. So I made sure to practice in my day-to-day. Through networking, I’ve met investors, business owners, artists, etc. Use Atlanta to your advantage; with so many people, the possibility of opportunities are endless. For those starting, there are hiccups here and there, do not stress yourself out over it. Building a business is taking note of your mistakes individually and creating a solution. Remember to give yourself grace!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Once I finish rebranding, I’d love to collaborate with Atlanta-based designer Lauryn Haygood owner of IV3Y. Her brand represents individuality and creativity, which the fashion industry needs most now. In addition, I’d love to collaborate with any businesses that present themselves in a similar way and, in that case, can contact me through my email or socials.
