Meet Amber Barnes

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amber Barnes. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amber below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Amber with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I’ve always been a workaholic especially when it comes to things I’m passionate about. One thing I’ve learned is that nothing in this life is free. Although Im always all over the place I always put my goals first. I try not to lose focus on things that are important to me especially being a single mom. Losing my brother and daddy was one of the most hardest things in life I ever experienced but it motivated me. I know that they are watching down on me and I want to make them proud. I love being a brand ambassador, actress, mother, and model. I got so much to do in life and tomorrow isn’t promised to nobody but I have to stay focus even when life hits me when I least expect it. My friends also pushes me as well. I love my close friends too! Jessica Lynch (Rocky Mt), Shanetta Alston (Rocky Mt), Melissa Rattray & family (Clayton NC), Roshay Anthony (Tarboro NC), & Camille. These are some goal getters! I love seeing them work hard to achieve what they want out of life and they keep me going. They always preaching to me about not allowing distractions to keep me down and I love them for that. I love them and my Mom, my aunty (Lea Spruill), Katrina Bell Mosley & Dazzell Mosley (daughter grandparents in Raleigh NC) and also my beautiful daughter Autumn Bell who is just as talented as any child I can imagine. She is really why I’m pushing so hard. This child can draw and she’s so gifted. I want her to feel as though if her mommy can do it so can she.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Those who knows me know that I’m an actress, model, influencer, & brand ambassador. I’ve been in several movies, done several fashion shows, did photo shoots with awesome photographers and also in always online promoting clothing brands for major companies and small black businesses. I’m still trying to find my niche for other things so that I can continue to fund the life I truly want. I’m a passionate genuine person and I stay trying to come up with new ideas that I can be able to entertain my audience. Just now I’m trying to do skits and also work with other creators to be noticed. Right now I’ve been busy going to movie premieres and going to award shows. I just got nominated for ACHI MAGAZINE in 4 different categories and that is a blessing for me. In the future I wish to give back to the community and try to speak at events for people who battles mental illness and depression. I want people to be able to understand that this life is a battle but if you have faith you can overcome any obstacle.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three skills/qualities I would say one must endure is patience, being humble and driving. It’s been times I felt like giving up but I was patient. It’s been times that I would get too cocky and that is an ugly trait so I had to back down and become humble so I wouldn’t run my fans away. There has been times I was lazy and I still do get lazy at times and procrastinate but I’ve always been driven to succeed. You just got to keep going man. Always put God first in every thing you do. Also the biggest advice I would say is to STAY FOCUS! Keep up with you health too because sometimes I’d forget to eat because I’m always running around and so it’s vital to take breaks every now and then and rest up so you can have the energy to do what needs to be done.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I want to collaborate with other actresses/actors in skits, I want to be able to collaborate with more brand ambassadors and also to creators so I can push myself out there. I want to be able to learn the ins and outs of modeling and acting. I feel like there is always a learning experience for everyone. S/O to all my fans and supporters who’s been there for me and holding me down. Lately I’ve been doing little pranks with my mom (Lisa Barnes) because she is a very cutthroat kind of person who tell it what it is and she is extremely funny although she is serious most of the time.
