Meet Amber Davis

We were lucky to catch up with Amber Davis recently and have shared our conversation below.

Amber , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

When i was a teenager, I really enjoyed watching cooking shows on TLC & Food Network. It was so amazing to see people from all over just creating magic out of food. One day i came across a TV show called Cake Boss and seeing the creations they made out of cake just blew my mind. From that point on I knew that baking was something that really interest me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m a at home baker. I made my business Angelic Sweetery official in 2020. I started experiencing with baking when I was in my early 20’s and only baked for my family & friends. The first time I officially introduced my desserts to strangers was during a potluck at a previous company i worked for. They gave me the courage to not be afraid to share my desserts with the world. What I feel is most exciting about what I do is that I truly amaze myself with bringing someone’s vision to life. It’s truly a honor that someone trust me enough to bring happiness to their special day. I currently have multiple special packages available for purchase. Check us out!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

1.) I’m very open minded which I feel helps with trying new things and not being afraid.
2.) I’m learning to work with what I have versus stressing about what I don’t have.
3.) I try to keep a positive mindset because at the end of the day everyone won’t support you and in life that’s something you have to be okay with for you.
The best advice I feel like I received and would like to pass along it came from someone that’s a business owner in my hometown Detroit. Her name is Mia Ray, owner of Glamaholic Lifestyle. She’s truly an inspiration more than she knows. She stated in a previous interview “ Start right where you are with what you have”.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

I feel like sometimes I get in my own way by doubting myself and it causes me to procrastinate. When I’m on a roll I’m on a roll, but when doubt kicks in along with life sometimes I feel stuck and don’t know where to start. I’m just truly taking everyday one day at a time & being patient with myself as well as my journey.
