Meet Amber Earl

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amber Earl a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I get my work ethic from my dad. He has always been a hustler, working without complaining and just getting it done with a great attitude. I used to always ask him if I could help him outside when he was doing yard work. My dad was always trying to lighten the mood and loves to work hard and then play hard.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I worked in sales in the fashion industry for about a decade and loved it! I found a good amount of success and met some brilliant people who were huge inspirations to me. This lead me to excel in my knowledge of sales, marketing, PR and growing a business. When my husband Chris and I had our first kid in 2016 we figured it was time to take all of that experience and use it to try and turn the furniture he was making into a real business. I love taking the art that he creates and placing it in homes, restaurants and hotels. I started offering Interior Design services recently and it’s the most fun to transform someones home into their dream space. It’s especially exciting when my interior design clients go for some of Chris’ furniture to compliment some of the rooms I’m curating. Overall, I find joy in getting to know the people we work with and creating timeless environments that consistently inspire. Our furniture pays attention to detail while finding space for the unexpected.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Work ethic, marketing, and PR

You have to have the drive to not stop when the going gets tough. It takes years to see success and to make a profit so don’t let the rollercoaster ride of being an entrepreneur get you down.
Figure out who your client is, and who your competitors are and make sure you’re doing something that sets you apart. Once you establish that, use it as your marketing plan.
Networking is everything, do not be afraid to ask for help! Ask 50 people and even if you only get 1 or 2 people that say yes, that could lead you to a pivotal moment in your business’s success story.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

We have done a couple collaborations and they’re always very successful and fun. They get your work in front of eyes that wouldn’t normally see our stuff! Right now we’re looking into quite a few collaboration opportunities. Chris has some ideas for some lighting he wants to design/make but needs a lighting company to partner with to execute the functionality. We have an idea for a bed that we need a custom mattress made. Ideally we’d need to find a mattress company that is willing to make some small batch quantities of mattresses, not sure if that’s even possible! Last, we make ceramic candles and would love a company that has established a following for their scents to pour their candle wax into our ceramic vessel… The list goes on… so many ideas, so little time.
