Meet Amber Hall

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amber Hall. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Amber , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
That’s good question. One thing I notice often is the way I look up to other women when I see their confidence. That feeling always resonated with me. Because of that, I try to show my clients that I have confidence in my work. I step out of my comfort zone and be as personable and energetic through the whole process, from booking all the way through the session. I never let me them see if I am “drawing a blank” or if my creative sense has flown out the window. I keep going and I make sure they have FUN along the way. All of that aside, time is what really helps. You grow as a person, as a business owner and you see the growth in your work. You start seeing all of that education paying off when you deliver images with the results you were hoping for. THAT! That is a good feeling, that is where confidence and self esteem come in.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My love for photography started back in high school. It only grew stronger as I got older. The last 10 years I have really put more into it. I started out photographing families. I still do but I specialize in newborns. My newest adventure is sport portraits. My children are both in sports and I found really found a love for that as well.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One of the most impactful areas in my business was understanding my camera and learning photoshop. My advice: Photography is so broad. When you start out you tend to photograph everything! Find out what you really like and stick with it. Educate yourself. Learn to say no. If weddings aren’t your thing, say no. If newborns aren’t where you see yourself, say no. Put effort into your education. Find a photographer that you adore and take their mentoring class. INVEST! invest in the course, invest in your self. You don’t need all the fancy props. Learn the camera first, learn to edit, learn to pose.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Time. Time is crazy right? You never seem to have enough hours in one day. As a mom of two busy athletic kiddos, a full time photographer and a part time Registered Dental Hygienist time is always at my heels. My biggest challenge is managing my time. I am currently working on that. Learning about being strict with my calendar, my daily chores of mom/wife and managing clients is tough but I am getting there. Making daily task sheets have helped so much.
