Meet Amber Lee

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amber Lee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Amber, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

When people ask me where my work ethic comes from, the answer is simple: my mother.

My mom was a nurse and she didn’t just show up for her shifts, she showed up for life. I watched her take on extra hours at the hospital whenever possible, never once complaining, always focused on doing what needed to be done to provide for our family. On her days off, while many would rest, she was sanding walls, fixing things, painting rooms – always building, always improving, always moving forward.

She grew up in poverty and had to fight for every single opportunity. There were no handouts, no shortcuts. She put herself through nursing school with sheer grit and determination, and one of the most powerful memories that still grounds me to this day is hearing how she made her own wedding dress because she couldn’t afford to buy one. That image stays with me, not as a symbol of struggle, but as a testament to strength and resilience.

As a kid, I may not have fully understood the sacrifices she was making, but I saw the example she set. I saw what it looked like to persevere, to be resourceful, to outwork your circumstances. I learned that success isn’t something handed to you; it’s earned.

That foundation shaped me. In business and in life. Whether I’m building my company, mentoring others, or navigating challenges, I think of my mom. steady. My mother taught me that work ethic isn’t just about working hard; it’s about working with heart, integrity, and purpose. And for that, I am so grateful.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m the co-founder of Select Date Society, a luxury matchmaking firm that specializes in working with high-achieving, successful professionals who are serious about finding a committed relationship. With over two decades of experience as a matchmaker, I’ve had the honor of helping thousands of people find love in a way that’s intentional, personalized, and deeply meaningful.

What makes our work at Select Date Society so special is the caliber of care we give our clients. We’re not just introducing people; We’re curating life-changing experiences. Our clients are some of the most accomplished individuals in the world: CEOs, entrepreneurs, investors, and leaders who are extraordinary in every area of their lives except one – their love life. That’s where we come in.

We believe that love is the most important investment you’ll ever make, and we treat the process with the respect and discretion it deserves. Our approach is boutique, private, and deeply personal. Every client receives a white-glove experience, including concierge-level matchmaking and high-level introductions aligned with their values, lifestyle, and relationship goals.

What excites me most is seeing the transformation that happens when someone lets their guard down and opens themselves up to true connection. We often work with people who are used to being in control, and it’s incredibly rewarding to help them step into a more vulnerable space and ultimately find the person they’ve been searching for.

At the end of the day, we’re in the business of love and there’s nothing more powerful or fulfilling than helping someone find a partner to share their life with.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three most impactful qualities that shaped my journey have been emotional intelligence, resilience, and building powerful relationships.

1) Emotional Intelligence
In the matchmaking world, and in business in general, success comes down to how well you understand people. Emotional intelligence has allowed me to truly connect with my clients, understand their unspoken needs, and guide them through deeply personal decisions.
My Advice: Cultivate your emotional awareness. Learn to observe your own patterns and triggers so you can better understand others. Practice empathy in real conversations, and make reflection a habit.

Resilience
When you build a luxury brand from the ground up, there are highs and lows with periods of rapid growth and moments of deep self-doubt. What kept me moving forward was my ability to stay grounded in my mission, no matter what obstacles I faced.
My Advice: Don’t confuse failure with defeat. Your ability to recover quickly and keep moving forward will become your greatest asset. Resilience is a muscle and you have to use it often.

Building Powerful Relationships
My success hasn’t come from doing it all alone. I’ve built strategic partnerships (including the partnership with my co-founder, Sandra Myers), referral networks, and real friendships with people who believed in me and opened doors I couldn’t have opened alone. Relationships are the true currency of business.
My Advice: Be someone people want to root for. Show up with generosity and integrity. Instead of trying to network, try to connect. The right people will amplify your growth if you nurture authentic, mutually beneficial relationships.

Your journey is never just about the business you build; It’s about who you become while building it. Lead with heart, stay the course, and surround yourself with people who inspire you to grow.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

At Select Date Society, we work with high-achieving professionals, entrepreneurs, and ultra-successful individuals who are used to being intentional in business and now want to bring that same level of intention to their personal life. Many of our clients are CEOs, investors, or thought leaders who value privacy, efficiency, and quality. They’re not looking to “date around.” They’re looking for a genuine, lasting connection with someone who shares their values, lifestyle, and vision for the future.

What makes someone an ideal client for us isn’t just their net worth: It’s their mindset. Our best clients are emotionally available, open to expert guidance, and ready to invest in the process. They understand that finding the right relationship takes time, effort, and discernment, and they value having a trusted advisor walk that journey with them. At the end of the day, we work best with people who are ready for something real. They’re not chasing chemistry alone. They want compatibility, connection, and commitment. If someone is truly ready for love and willing to do the inner and outer work to get there, that’s who we’re here for.
