We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amber Payden a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Amber, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My faith. I think I was just born with resilience. From a very young age, I’ve worked very hard for what I wanted. I’ve always been moving and doing things. Naturally, I’ve had some dark and depressing moments. But ultimately, I think my resilience comes from being true to who I am, and I’ve always sought the advice of older people and the Lord. I trust God and I seek out counsel. I also like to hear criticism and where I’ve failed so I can improve. Of course, I can be defensive, but I’m never deaf to criticism.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the Managing Director of Marque Strategy Group, an agency dedicated to work on personal brands, corporate brands and individuals that want to pivot their current operations. We’re an idea agency! Anyone that’s looking to get services from us, we’re here! We’re problem solvers and build your brand to make money
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
the 3 qualities that have helped me are:
– Not being afraid of No’s, and not being afraid to sell! Rejection happens all the time
– Being flexible in your thinking and be very forgiving. We all deserve forgiveness and it’s a good skill to have
– Giving people the benefit of the doubt, for better or worse.

The Bible has been a big part of my personal development lately, but also while I was growing up. And it’s useful for each area of your life (business, love, relationships) even if you’re not a Christian.
The Chaos Theory, 7 Pillars of Customer Success, The Lean StartUp and Competitive Advantage are some of the best books I’ve ever read and they’re also my “Bibles” for business and growth.
