Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amber Proctor. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amber , we sincerely appreciate you joining us today and agreeing to talk about some very personal topics. So, to kick things off, let’s talk about a tough one – divorce. Can you talk to us about how you overcame divorce?
I emerged stronger from the transition of divorce by focusing on my artistic growth and surrounding myself with a nurturing community through therapy. I learned that it didn’t shape my identity, and through art, I’ve been able to express myself authentically, share my passion for creativity, and uplift the next generation of young artists.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
With unwavering dedication, I serve as an art teacher and educator in Prince George’s County and MTC Art Studio, Bowie, MD, inspiring children to tap into their innate creativity. My own life’s journey has shown me the healing power of art, which helped me navigate the challenges of my parents’ divorce. Now, I am committed to paying it forward, nurturing the artistic talents of future generations. As I continue to evolve as an artist, I look forward to showcasing my work and exploring new frontiers in the fine arts. Through Artist Paints, my goal is to create a vibrant community of young artists, solidifying my legacy as a passionate advocate for art education.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My unwavering trust in God has been and will continue to be my solid foundation. I also wholeheartedly believe that my enthusiasm for creativity, knowledge, and determination to succeed are the attributes that have guided me on my path. The advice I would give to someone just starting out on their journey is to stay genuine to who they are and to the passion that drives their purpose. Uncover your why, and remain committed to it.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Over the past year, I have embarked on a transformative journey of healing my inner child, leveraging my thoughts and emotions to craft a series of inspiring works that evoke profound feelings in others, and in doing so, I have cultivated a deeper sense of inner peace and freedom within myself.
