Meet Ameer Ward

We recently connected with Ameer Ward and have shared our conversation below.

Ameer, we are so deeply grateful to you for opening up about your journey with mental health in the hops that it can help someone who might be going through something similar. Can you talk to us about your mental health journey and how you overcame or persisted despite any issues? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
There have been moments in my life where I was in such a dark place I didn’t see a light at the end of the tunnel. But that didn’t mean that I wanted to just give up. So the only thing I could do was pray and ask God to help me overcome my dark thoughts, and find something to focus on that I was passionate about which was writing. Because of prayer and refocusing my energy and mindset, I was able to overcome being mentally drained, depressed, and overthinking.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am an Author and the Founder & CEO of an independent book publishing company, Iconic Creations Entertainment. Iconic Creations Entertainment will focus on publishing romance, comedy, autobiographies/memoirs, poetry, science fiction, crime fiction, thrillers, and erotic novels. The most exciting/special thing about my business is always having the opportunity to be creative and grow with my business. By growing with my business, I mean that every day I learn something new. Not only does it add to my creativity, but it helps me develop my company. As far as new products, services, and launches, I am proud to announce that Iconic Creations Entertainment will be launching a website and app where you can purchase all ebooks published by my company very soon. Iconic Creations Entertainment will also be releasing a romantic, erotic, comedy novel titled “Love, Sex, & Heartbreak,” by myself (Ameer Ward), and a crime fiction, science fiction, supernatural thriller titled “Welcome to 10-5 (The Devil’s Advocate),” by Ahmad Gemini Ray (Author Alter Ego) soon. So much to come, and so much to be excited about.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
This is a hard one, but if I had to choose three, I would say having knowledge of myself, my skills in doing thorough research, and having the quality of ambition has been the most impactful in my journey. The most important thing is having knowledge of myself. Without knowledge of myself, I would never have found my passion and followed my vision. And a man without a vision is a man who does not know his purpose in life. I know mine and will continue to live it.

The greatest advice that I could give anyone who is early in their journey is to have confidence in yourself and to believe that you can do whatever it is that you want to pursue in your future. Remain resilient because there will be times when your journey will be discouraging, but remember that everything that is worth it will never come easy. Have faith in the highest power (if you are religious or spiritual), have faith in yourself, and know that you are capable of all success. Last but not least, remember that all good things come to those who are patient and work hard.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Besides the Bible and Holy Quran, which I can quote too many scriptures from both, I would say 48 Laws of Power by Robert Green. and The Art of War by Sun Tzu. In 48 Laws of Power, Robert Green said, “Be the master of your own image rather than letting others define if for you.“ Sun Tzu said, “Treat your men as you would your own beloved sons. And they will follow you into the deepest valley.” These are the two quotes that I live by every day of my life.
