Meet Amela Coric

We were lucky to catch up with Amela Coric recently and have shared our conversation below.

Amela, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I always considered myself a creative person but also always hoped that was how I was perceived by others. Being creative makes me what I am professionally but also who I am in my personal life so keeping that creativity alive is essential for me.

I would say that travel, people I meet, professionally and personally, and art are what keep that spark of creativity alive for me. I love to grow in every sense and change with that growth. What better way to do that than to learn something new, meet someone different or visit somewhere where I have never been before?

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Amela Coric and I am the owner of Skincare by Amela Spa in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. I have been calling Jacksonville my home for the last 7 years and loving every minute of it. I am a licensed Florida Esthetician and I have been part of this great industry for almost 20 years. I started my exposure to the medical industry as a nurse but then slowly transitioned to what my true passion is, taking care of people’s skin and making them feel good about themselves.

Besides my experience and education in this field, I would say that my willingness to learn new things every day in various ways is what makes me the best esthetician I can be. Besides Florida, I worked in Europe for many years and learned to pull my strengths from the differences, but also similarities, between the approaches to skin care in different continents, countries, and cultures.

I like to pamper my clients the same way I like to be pampered so that would not be the last time we see each other. Service can be received anywhere but true lasting relationships are created only where you feel special and I like to think that this is what I am doing in my spa, creating lasting relationships and friendships with people that decide to trust me with their needs.

In Skincare by Amela, we offer a variety of services such as Chemical Peel, Microcurrent, Microdermabrasion, Acne Treatment, Dermaplaning, Microneedling, Anti-Aging Facial, European Facial, and Face Cupping just to name a few :). However, I would like to emphasize that we also offer two great new procedures that really made me excited about what I do: Sculptural Face Lift+Buccal Massage and Jet Plasma Treatments. Both of these procedures are not widely offered in the area yet but are such great methods to get beautiful results.

I also want to mention that I am certified as a Master Esthetician, Face Cupping Expert, and Sculptural Face Lifting Method Master and that I go through continuing education and learn new things constantly as I am passionate about improving and extending my skills for my clients.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say that my work ethic, love for the creation of beautiful things (and ability to help others achieve the same), and willingness to always learn new things and expand in every way possible would be some of the things I like to think helped me to become who I am today.

If I were to give advice to others who are just starting, I would say be true to yourself and stay the course but also be ready to learn new ways and methods on how to achieve what you want if the things you already tried are not working out for you. Work hard but more importantly, work smart.

How would you describe your ideal client?
Clients willing to invest their trust and time in me and my skills are ideal clients.

We are all different as people and is expected that we will be always different as clients, patients, or customers, and wishing for the perfect customer would be unrealistic in my opinion. I expect that every new person who walks through the door of my spa will be different than the next one and the only constant there would be me and how I treat these different individuals who honor me with their business.
