Hi Amita, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding my purpose has been a journey of discovery, shaped by my diverse experiences across different fields. From my early years in Mumbai, I was always drawn to the creative arts—whether it was through painting, acting, singing, or dancing. As a child, I loved performing and being on stage, and it was during this time that I decided I was going to be an actor. That determination led me to a successful career in television, where I became a household name in India. But even as I enjoyed my time in the spotlight, I always knew there was more to my creative soul than acting alone.
When life led me to California and I chose to leave acting behind, I found that my true purpose lay in painting. I explored various forms of visual art, including oils, acrylics, and charcoal, before discovering the delicate beauty of porcelain painting. The joy I found in creating something tangible and beautiful led me to open my Etsy store, Amitaarts, where I could share my artwork with the world.
As I continued my journey as an artist, I realized that technology could also play a significant role in my creativity. My curiosity about digital tools and how they could enhance my work led me to study UX/UI design. This marked a turning point in my journey, where I saw the potential to combine my passion for art with technology to create impactful, user-centered designs.
Through this path, I’ve come to understand that my purpose lies in creating—whether it’s through painting, designing, or storytelling. I’ve discovered that my creativity isn’t limited to a single medium; it’s about connecting with others through art, and now, through the digital experiences I design. Every experience along the way—acting, painting, and UX design—has taught me that my purpose is to express myself creatively, share that with others, and continuously evolve as an artist in both the traditional and digital worlds.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m an artist and entrepreneur with a passion for creating and sharing art in various forms. Through my online store, Amitaarts, I offer a collection of artwork that spans traditional mediums like oils, acrylics, and porcelain painting, as well as digital art. My journey as an artist began early, with a love for creative expression, and over time, I’ve explored different styles and techniques that reflect my growth and curiosity.
What excites me most about my work is the constant evolution as an artist. Each piece I create is a reflection of where I am in my creative journey. Whether it’s capturing the fine details in a porcelain painting or exploring new digital techniques, I enjoy experimenting with different approaches. Amitaarts is not just a store—it’s a space where I can offer artwork that connects with people on a deeper level, allowing them to bring beauty and meaning into their lives.
I’m also expanding my presence outside of Etsy by sharing my art on platforms like Skribbl, where I’ve recently launched a collection called Nature’s Creatures. This illustrated series celebrates the beauty of nature and the animal kingdom, showcasing my love for the natural world through art. Being featured on Skribbl has allowed me to connect with a wider audience and explore new ways of sharing my art beyond traditional mediums.
Looking ahead, I’m focused on continuing to expand Amitaarts and taking it to the next level. I’m excited to explore new product launches, potentially collaborating with other artists, and reaching even more people who appreciate art in all its forms. Additionally, I’m considering moving into teaching and sharing my skills with others, whether through workshops, online tutorials, or mentorship. Art has always been a way for me to express myself, and I believe it can be a powerful tool for others to explore their own creativity.
Ultimately, what makes Amitaarts special is the blend of personal passion, artistic evolution, and a desire to connect with others through creativity. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me as I continue to expand my art and inspire others to embrace their creative potential.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey, I’d say the three qualities that were most impactful in shaping my path are resilience, creativity, and a willingness to learn and adapt.
Resilience – The entertainment industry, as well as the transition to different careers, brought its fair share of challenges, including rejection, disappointments, and personal setbacks. However, my ability to stay focused, keep pushing forward, and adapt in the face of adversity has been crucial. Whether it was dealing with the ups and downs of my acting career or navigating the loss of a loved one, resilience helped me bounce back and continue pursuing my passions.
Advice: For those starting out, especially in creative fields, it’s important to understand that setbacks are part of the journey. When faced with challenges, remember that they are often stepping stones to growth. Stay determined and keep pushing forward, even when things don’t go as planned.
Creativity – As an artist, creativity is at the core of everything I do. It’s what drove me to explore various forms of art, from acting to painting and digital art. Creativity isn’t just about creating beautiful things—it’s about problem-solving and thinking outside the box. This skill has translated into my work as a UX designer, where creativity plays a key role in designing intuitive and engaging experiences for users.
Advice: Embrace creativity in whatever form it comes. Don’t limit yourself to one medium or method. Whether it’s through art, design, or other pursuits, find ways to let your creative instincts guide you. Challenge yourself to think differently and take risks—creativity thrives in these spaces.
A willingness to learn and adapt – As I shifted from acting to painting and then into the world of UX/UI design, the ability to continuously learn and adapt was essential. The world of UX design, in particular, was new to me, but my curiosity and commitment to learning helped me pursue further education and develop the skills necessary to succeed in this field. I believe that learning is a lifelong process, and the ability to adapt to new challenges is one of the most valuable skills anyone can have.
Advice: Never stop learning. Whether you’re taking courses, seeking out new experiences, or learning from those around you, continuously developing your skills is key. The more you learn, the more adaptable and resourceful you become, which will open up more opportunities along your journey.
For those who are early in their journey, I recommend embracing the process of self-discovery. Don’t be afraid to try new things and pivot when necessary. Build resilience by accepting challenges, stay creative in your approach to problem-solving, and always be open to learning. These qualities will serve you well, no matter where your journey takes you.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
As an artist, I’m always looking for new ways to expand my creative reach and connect with the right audience. While I’m passionate about creating, I also recognize the importance of the business side of art. I’m looking to collaborate with individuals or partners who have expertise in the business and marketing aspects of the art world—someone who can help my work reach the right buyers, build a strong brand presence, and expand my reach both online and offline.
If you’re someone who has experience in the art business, whether it’s through marketing, sales, or gallery representation, and you’re interested in collaborating, I’d love to hear from you. Together, we can work on creating opportunities to showcase my art to new audiences and help it find its place in the world.
If you’re interested in connecting, feel free to reach out to me through my Etsy store, Amitaarts on Etsy, or contact me directly through my website or social media. I’m excited to explore ways we can collaborate and bring my art to more people.
