Meet Amy Angelilli

We were lucky to catch up with Amy Angelilli recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy, thank you so much for joining us and opening up about the very personal topic of divorce. So many in the community are going through or have gone through divorce and we think hearing about how others dealt with the aftermath and managed to build a vibrant, successful life and career despite the trauma of divorce can be helpful to many who might be feeling a degree of hopelessness. So, maybe you can talk to us about how you overcame divorce?

I took an improv class. That was 25 years ago. Now I have my own improv studio with five levels of improv training and shows every weekend.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

January 2026 marks two years of Third Space Improv in St. Augustine – the Oldest City’s funniest place to create, collaborate, and connect. Did you know third spaces are informal gathering spots where people come together to talk, relax, rejuvenate, and bond. They are familiar spots for connection, with old and news friends, over a shared interest or activity often resulting in a happier community! In our third space we offer five levels of improv training for grown-ups, comedy shows every Friday and Saturday, team building for organizations, and kids camps in the summertime. We think that cooperative play and laughter is the quickest way to connect community members.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I think improv has helped me tremendously off the stage – especially with creating and growing Third Space. I’ve had to try new things, make new choices, be resilient with failure, play with possibilities, roll with what’s actually happening instead of what I planned, pivot constantly, and and remember to enjoy a bit of what’s happening along the way as what’s the point if the ride isn’t fun from time to time?

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am always seeking collaborations as improv is about “we before me.” I’m looking for organizations who need support for their team members with things like communication, collaboration, and creativity. The three Cs are spaces that improv plays in and improv makes other people feel safe playing in them too. Because of the cooperative nature of the practice, improv creates psychological safety on the stage, and in the workplace. I would love to collaborate with human resources professionals who want to bring this kind of group skill building to their team members.
