We recently connected with Amy Bittle and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy , thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism is rooted in perspective and perseverance.
I’ve been fortunate to witness extraordinary resilience in the people around me — men and women who rebuilt their lives after divorce, pushed forward after the death of a loved one, relocated far from family to pursue opportunity, and continued striving even when simply getting out of bed felt difficult. Watching that level of strength up close reshapes how you view obstacles.
I also grew up observing people close to me build businesses from the ground up. I saw the long hours, the uncertainty, the calculated risks, and eventually the reward that comes from ownership. That exposure was deeply inspiring. It showed me that entrepreneurship is not simply about ambition — it is about endurance, discipline, and vision.
I’ve had my own trials as well. There were moments when others questioned my goals, including my decision to become an entrepreneur. Building something from the ground up is rarely the popular choice at the beginning. It requires conviction long before there is visible validation.
Those experiences taught me that meaningful progress often happens quietly. The early stages of any significant goal can feel isolating, uncertain, and misunderstood. Perseverance is what carries you through that phase.
That philosophy directly informs how I lead Amy Bittle Consulting. Governance, risk, and compliance work is not always the most visible or celebrated function within an organization. It requires structure, foresight, and a commitment to long-term stability. But the foundational work we do protects businesses, employees, and communities from preventable harm.
I believe tomorrow is not promised, which makes today’s discipline essential. Optimism, to me, is not blind positivity — it is the decision to keep building with integrity and preparation, even when others do not yet see the vision. And when perseverance is aligned with purpose, it has the power to create impact far beyond your own success.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the Founder and CEO of Amy Bittle Consulting, LLC, a governance, risk, and compliance advisory firm serving organizations operating in regulated industries. At its core, my work is about helping businesses build strong foundations so they can grow with clarity and confidence — not chaos.
My professional journey spans federal service, cybersecurity leadership, and executive-level governance strategy. Over time, I realized that many organizations — whether large healthcare systems or small local businesses — don’t fail because they lack vision. They struggle because they lack structure. That’s where I come in.
I design customized compliance playbooks, governance frameworks, and executive reporting tools tailored to each client’s industry, size, and goals. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all templates. I build systems that reflect how an organization truly operates. I also provide pre-audit advisory services, helping companies proactively strengthen their internal controls and documentation long before regulators, investors, or contracting officers begin asking questions.
What makes this work exciting to me is that governance creates access. It empowers leadership teams in healthcare departments to protect patient data and meet regulatory standards. It helps a plumber who wants to pursue federal contracts understand what compliance measures are required to compete. It supports a construction team trying to understand how artificial intelligence tools may impact contracts and operational risk. It guides the owner of a local hemp shop through evolving state and federal regulations so they can operate confidently and lawfully. It even helps a general manager of a car dealership better understand consumer protection laws, financing regulations, data privacy requirements, and operational risk exposure.
No matter the industry, the goal is the same: build correctly, grow responsibly, and protect what you are working so hard to create.
I also collaborate with corporate technology vendors on whitepapers and thought leadership initiatives that translate complex regulatory requirements into practical guidance for business leaders. Most recently, I partnered with a global data quality solutions provider on a whitepaper addressing data governance and data cleansing best practices. Clean, accurate information is the foundation of compliance. Organizations cannot manage risk, report effectively, or implement AI responsibly if their underlying data is inconsistent or unreliable.
In addition to advisory services, I offer AI governance education and executive training programs. As artificial intelligence becomes part of everyday business operations — from healthcare systems to construction firms to retail operations — leaders must understand cybersecurity, compliance, and policy implications before deployment, not after.
Currently, I am expanding our portfolio of industry-specific compliance playbooks, AI governance courses, and executive advisory services to support organizations preparing for audits, federal contracting opportunities, and strategic growth in highly regulated sectors both domestically and internationally.
Personally, what drives me is disciplined optimism — the belief that preparation, integrity, and thoughtful structure create freedom. When businesses build with foresight instead of fear, they don’t just protect revenue. They create stability, opportunity, and long-term impact for the people and communities they serve.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities have shaped my journey the most: discipline, perspective, and a commitment to continuous growth.
Discipline has been foundational. Motivation comes and goes, but discipline is what sustains progress. Whether I was earning certifications, transitioning from federal service into entrepreneurship, or building my firm from the ground up, it was the daily decision to show up prepared — even on the difficult days — that moved me forward.
Perspective has been equally powerful. I’ve witnessed people close to me rebuild their lives after loss, divorce, relocation, and unexpected challenges. I’ve also navigated my own seasons of uncertainty. Seeing resilience up close teaches you that setbacks are rarely the end of the story. They are chapters. That understanding has allowed me to approach obstacles with steadiness instead of fear.
The third area is continuous growth. The industries I work in — governance, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence — are constantly evolving. I’ve learned that staying curious and committed to learning is not optional; it’s necessary. Growth requires humility and a willingness to refine your skills over time.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to focus on depth before visibility. Master your craft. Develop discipline in small, consistent habits. Surround yourself with people who challenge and inspire you. And understand that many meaningful goals are not immediately celebrated. Progress often happens quietly before it becomes visible.
Most importantly, give yourself permission to build steadily. Success is rarely instant, but when it’s rooted in integrity and preparation, it lasts.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, I am always open to collaboration. I believe strong partnerships are built on alignment, shared standards, and a commitment to doing meaningful work well.
I welcome opportunities to collaborate with organizations of all sizes — from small and mid-sized businesses preparing to scale, to large corporations navigating complex regulatory environments. I value working alongside healthcare systems, private medical practices and doctors’ offices, schools and educational institutions, government contractors, construction and automotive professionals, technology providers, AI innovators, data governance specialists, and business owners operating in regulated markets — including local hemp shop owners navigating evolving state and federal requirements.
I also actively collaborate with ecosystem partners such as CPAs and accounting firms, regulatory and corporate attorneys, managed service providers (MSPs), cybersecurity firms, insurance brokers specializing in cyber and business coverage, HR and people operations consultants, private equity and investment groups, economic development organizations, chambers of commerce, universities, research institutions, startups, and nonprofit organizations. Strong governance touches every part of an organization, and I believe cross-disciplinary collaboration leads to stronger outcomes for clients.
Collaboration can take many forms — joint thought leadership initiatives, co-developed compliance playbooks, executive training programs, vendor partnerships, referral relationships, board advisory roles, workshops, and strategic project engagements. As regulation, data privacy requirements, and artificial intelligence continue to evolve, collaboration across industries and advisory networks is becoming essential to responsible growth.
What matters most to me is working with leaders who care about integrity, preparation, and long-term sustainability. Whether it’s a doctor safeguarding patient information, a school strengthening data protection practices, a hemp retailer seeking regulatory clarity, a startup preparing for rapid scale, a small business owner pursuing federal contracts, or a corporate executive refining enterprise risk strategy, my goal is the same: build structure that protects growth.
