We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amy Brockhaus a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My husband and I have 5 children together, 3 of which are adopted and have special needs. In the past 10 years, we have learned to never give up on their emotional or health needs, no matter the walls we confront, some of which we have discovered in our own hearts. We confront each issue, and always find solutions that lead to lasting changes, connection and overall health. These rewards have inspired to to take that mentality in our business and personal lives; love always wins, and effort always pays off
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
What I love about professional organizing is the blend it encompasses of all my passion in one succinet business: Art, styling, emotional support, life change and human connection. Often are clients are so overwhelmed and burdened emotionally and physically and within the first 30 minutes of our day there, we can sense the lightness taking over them. We are able to offer support in a way that most service businesses can’t, and the results are long lasting, saving them time, money, stress while supporting their personal wellbeing and relationships.
Nothing compares to being organized in your own dwelling place.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
More so than being able to organized, it the skill of being a nonjudgemental witness who can inact action in people’s lives in a way they can’t even verbalize at times. There are many steps in organizing, all of which flow naturally within our business model, but the sturdy presence we offer and listening to what comes up as we sort is the high item of value we offer our clients.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I was lucky enough to meet a young organized who truly transformed my business in the aspects of design, planning and purchasing of product. I had been stuck only purchasing from one store that was not only far, but very expensive to our clients, and she taught me how much incredible if not better product was at local stores, saving us time and clients money. Without Savannah’s influence, we would not have been able to serve as many clients as we have been in the past couple years, she has radically changed our business and lives across the county.
