Meet Amy Delp

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amy Delp a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Amy , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Up until this point, I’ve found much of my purpose has come forth from pain, problems, and my passion to serve Jesus and build His Kingdom on earth. He has rooted me in His Love and has established my true identity, so it’s from that place, coupled with the gifts I’ve been given and His Word that help me to pursue purposeful work and God-given assignments with authenticity and supernatural strength. I believe I will be continually discovering the fullness of my purpose until I take my last breath.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

“Living in the Fringe” began in my garage, with a space heater in the corner, and an urgency burning inside of me for my own children to get excited about the Word of God. It was Christmas of 2021. Times were still uncertain. Things were still being cancelled. They had not asked for new bibles, but I felt compelled to give them something unchanging. I desired to equip them with Truth and fortify them in faith. I knew that nobody could ever take away what was hidden in their hearts. As my fingers twisted yarn into tassels and pressed fringe trim into the borders of their new Bible’s, I prayed that they would be drawn in to The Word, There’s a story in the gospels about a woman who had suffered for years. She heard about Jesus and was compelled to draw near to and touch the fringe of his robe. With that act of faith, she was restored to wholeness and true identity. He called her “daughter” and transformed her suffering into a testimony. That’s the power of The Word.
I never imagined how delighted my daughters would be about their fringed Bibles. I also never intended to start a business. However, the girls spent Christmas Day pouring over them and posted photos to their social media accounts. Quickly, their friends were asking “Could your mom make one for me?” There was a deep hunger for the Word. I believe this urgency is God’s heart for all of his children to approach him as he also draws near to them. A “businestry” with the name “Living in the Fringe” was born. “Just one touch can change everything” has become our slogan. My son created a website and I began to upload Fringed creations + tassel Bookmarks. I love to have meaningful, tangible, ready-to-ship gifts on the site. However, custom creations are my sweet spot. I get to collaborate with the Creator on behalf of one of his prized creations. The personal details and intimate touches are reflections of how deeply connected He is to them. In 2022, I partnered with Innermost Creations to offer hand-painted Bibles. In 2023, Living in the Fringe was featured in an online publication called “Whole for the Holidays” and added Alamko “fringed earrings”, a give-back partner, to the site. This year, I’ve been honored to release a cancer-care gift called “Infused” (a Restoration Ring collaboration with my sister, Lindsay, who is a breast cancer survivor). I’ve been thrilled to do pop-ups and “worthy workshops” at local boutiques. September 6-7, “Living in the Fringe” will be featured at a Women’s Conference in Indianapolis, where a new collection called “Women of the Word” will be released. The new collection will then be uploaded to the website for the rest of the “fringe family”. Looking to the future, I hope to release more “Restoration Rings” that foster wholeness. But my hands are open and willing to see how God wants to continue to weave this story.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Creativity. As the daughter of the CREATOR, created in His image, I believe that I look like him when I create. John 1:1

Love, Touch. Gifts, Words, and Time are quoted as the five love languages. I wanted to express God’s message of love through all five of these modalities. That’s why I chose tangible gifts that can connect people to The Word.

For readers:
You are God’s poetry, workmanship, masterpiece. Eph. 1:4. You have a message of love that comes from above. 🙂 You have gifts placed inside of you that were placed there before you were born and can only come to fruition by his grace working in you. Get into His Word. Let him transform the way you think and inform your steps. Let the world see what He is like through you.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

I don’t think this will come as any surprise… the Bible. 🙂 It’s living and active. Proverbs is full of wisdom, you can read one each day of the month and it never gets old! Acts is my favorite book because Jesus leaves the gift of the Holy Spirit to His followers, which means regular people like me can be empowered by the same power that raised Jesus from the grave! I love reading the stories of the ACTS of God. As an actress, I want to be a vessel where he can ACT through me. Recently, I’ve also enjoyed reading the books “Living Fearless”, by Jaime Winship and “Soul Care” by Rob Reimer. They both address soul and identity issues most of us face.
