We were lucky to catch up with Amy Gleaves recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, really appreciate your meeting with us today to talk about some particularly personal topics. It means a lot because so many in the community are going through circumstances where your insights and experience and lessons might help, so thank you so much in advance for sharing. The first question we have is about divorce and how you overcame divorce and didn’t allow the trauma of divorce to derail your vision for your life and career.
Before I decided to divorce I decided I had to do the work on myself and make decisions from the highest version of me with the highest respect for myself and my marriage. For almost a year I worked on showing up as the best version of me and focusing on the good in my marriage. I knew that if I was to divorce I wanted it to be from a positive light knowing I was giving my best version of me and aligning what I truly wanted in my life.
Doing this helped me see my love for myself and seeing what I needed for an aligned life for myself.
Divorce was sad, even knowing it was what was best for my highest self and the life I wanted it was heartbreaking.
I spent a lot of time accepting the emotions, even one’s I didn’t expect to come. Learning how to live in a world where you no longer know your spouse, you no longer have the rights to them, their emotions and their aligned life. Learning to co-parent with someone who you had always done the majority of the parenting for both of you.
Having adult children see the split as having to pick a side and realizing a divorce is more than just two people.
I allowed myself to stay focused on the life I wanted while allowing myself space to grieve what was. To grieve the emotions and the realizations that come out leaving you thinking how did I not see this or fall for that?
Watching myself slowly do the small things again like laugh again, smile more, sleep harder and better and taking care of this version of me knowing my value and what I deserve it all coming together.
I am a big believer before you leave what no longer serves you make sure you are showing up fully in it and giving it your best so if you do decide to leave it then you do it out of alignment and not anger.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a certified life coach, speaker and podcast host.. I teach people how to feel that fire inside of them, show up and take action of creating the life of their dreams. I give people permission to put themselves first and go after what they truly desire. To show up unapologetically and change not only their lives but those they love.
My podcast called, Unquiet You!, talks to the women who is living a good life but knows deep down there is more inside of her. She has the fire and it just has to brought out.
I help people see our background and the past do not define who we are today and who we are becoming tomorrow.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Consistent dedication to myself and making it work.
Remaining loyal to who I am
Learning other peoples opinions truly don’t matter.
I would say first and foremost overcoming my he fear of was others will think. I always say if I wouldn’t want to put my feet in their shoes their opinions aren’t valid.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Over the past 12 months my biggest area of growth has been in my boldness, my ability to speak my truth with apologizing for it. To go and do new things that are lighting a fire under me and setting new goals and hay I was only dreamed of.
I have allowed myself to feel all the feels, take in all the lessons and become the version of me that my 13 year old self dreamed about.
