Meet Amy Hellard

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amy Hellard. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Amy, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

I wasn’t always optimistic. I actually used to say that Eeyore was my spirit animal because of how pessimistic and depressed I usually was. It did not happen overnight, but through small, intentional shifts in how I think, react and reflect. I’ve started focusing more on possibilities than problems, on growth rather than setbacks. Optimism, for me, isn’t blind positivity – it’s the belief that even in uncertainty, there’s room for hope, progress and joy. I believe that it actually has a lot to do with my faith. To stay in this mindset daily I’ve built a few habits that keep me grounded and uplifted: start each day naming things I’m grateful for; when things go wrong, I reframe “What is this teaching me” instead of “Why is this happening to me”; limit the negativity that I consume daily; speak kindly to myself and I celebrate progress no matter how small… I’ve had to learn that progress is better than perfection.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am an Independent Travel Advisor. I design personalized journeys for clients, offering a level of customization and care that goes far beyond booking engines for generic packages. I work with a wide range of suppliers, that gives me the flexibility to find the best fit for each client, all while not having loyalty to a single brand. I tailor every itinerary to my client’s preferences, budget and travel style. I handle bookings, changes and issues with care… I’m a trusted partner throughout the journey. I serve solo travelers, couples, families and groups, even corporate clients needing business travel coordination. I love making clients bucket list travel dreams come true.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Honestly, anyone can do this. My love for travel is what got me started in it and I also love to help people as well. I also love to learn and there is no shortage of learning in this business. There are trainings and webinars available daily for all of the suppliers. These are important to know what is available and you can become a specialist in many different areas. My advice for anyone starting out would be to research Host Agencies and also reach out to other travel advisors, they are very willing to help. I have loved all of the help I received!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely I am always looking for people to partner or collaborate with. I’m looking for people that want a business for their own and want to succeed. People that want to help others. I can be reached by email or by phone.
