Meet Ana

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ana. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Ana, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Overcoming impostor syndrome is a common challenge on the path to success; even the most driven individuals will question their own worth. The way I overcame impostor syndrome was by acknowledging the hard work that initiated the business and my commitment to learning more about my career. Impostor syndrome is your only enemy, it is what will break your mind if you allow it to. Building good habits such as meditation, yoga, reflection and keeping balance in life and work will be your absolute defense.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Hydro Skin and Body offers a unique blend of holistic and medical aesthetic treatments in Houston, Texas. The spa offers skin and body treatments such as massages, rejuvenation, hydration, all acne level clearing treatments, deep cleanse facials, we also offer Botox, filler and weight-loss at our nurses locations. Hydro Skin began as a dream to offer safe and effective treatments for all skin tones, and today that dream has become a reality with a diverse and loyal clientele.

In honor of my Hispanic heritage, both our spa and website are offered in Spanish and English, reflecting the importance of language in both my life and my business. Hydrofacial is our signature facial, it sparked the idea of our business name and its brand colors.

As for myself, I am Ana Magana-Garnica, a Master Esthetician with extensive experience in the field along with a background in education, I was inspired to launch private classes for estheticians and licensed professionals—focused on marketing, spa management, and advanced training in devices and treatments.

We’re constantly developing new services and expanding, stay updated by following our social media accounts all under Hydro Skin and Body.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The one quality that is stunningly important is leadership, taking control of your life; if I were to choose three skills they would be- perseverance, marketing and commitment.

Perseverance to keep going against any obstacle you may encounter, marketing helps immensely in knowing how to create your brand identity and lastly commitment is being punctual, making time for your business and sticking to achieving that dream.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

A mentor in my definition is “someone with more knowledge who will extend their hand and take you for the ride” my mentor, friend and mother figure is Lina Do.

Her endless support and guidance is worth more than gold. We help each other in any way possible along with teaching classes together and constantly coming up with great strategies, we’re a great duo!
