Meet Anais Rodriguez

We were lucky to catch up with Anais Rodriguez recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Anais, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
All my life, my mother has been an inspiration to me, instilling in me the values of hard work and honesty, and encouraging me to pursue my dreams. Since I could remember, she’s always been the hardest-working person I know, other than Taylor Swift right now.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the chief operating officer of a woman-owned independent health and wellness ad agency THE 3RD EYE based in Miami, Florida. I lead the Employee Experience team at the agency, from recruitment initiatives to onboarding to sharing knowledge on how to improve employee satisfaction and most importantly building a positive company culture, while also maximizing performance. I aspire to establish a culture that encourages community, allowing team members to achieve optimal work-life balance. In conjunction, I also oversee client experience and the financials at THE 3RD EYE. I always strive to ensure that my company’s ecosystem functions seamlessly, effectively, and cohesively, so that both employees and clients can benefit from it. It’s always exciting to evolve and make changes that you know will make what we do even better.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
As I reflect on my professional journey, I strongly believe listening, honesty and accountability have been the most impactful qualities. We celebrate outspokenness in our society even when nothing is actually being said. At the beginning of my career, I was sometimes overlooked because I was quiet, but in reality, I was observing, learning, and making sure that my words were meaningful. I strongly encourage young talent to learn from their surroundings and become indispensable to their leaders by always being honest and accountable as this will provide opportunities for growth.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I start feeling overwhelmed, I tend to write things down to see what is triggering this feeling. Then I ask myself: Is it an actual thing I have to get done? Is it a conversation I need to have? A presentation I need to develop and present? In the event that things don’t go according to plan, I think about the worst that could happen. Putting things in perspective helps immensely. Often, I realize there are things on the list I can delegate or I can block some time off on my calendar for them to get through the items on my list. Organization and prioritizing are both key!
