We were lucky to catch up with Analaura Devary recently and have shared our conversation below.
Analaura , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Finding my purpose has been a journey shaped by my personal experiences and the desire to help others. Witnessing my family members navigate the challenges of aging, health and independence inspired me to combine my entrepreneurial spirit into starting a business that makes a difference in people’s lives. I found purpose in providing compassionate care and support to seniors and their families. It is very rewarding to offer practical solutions, resources and emotional encouragement to families while also building a meaningful business that positively impacts the community.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am one of the owners of Senior Helpers of Gilbert & Chandler, we provide compassionate, personalized in-home care for seniors in our community. We offer a range of services, including Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and Parkinson’s care, companion care, and respite care, tailored to meet each individual’s needs. Our goal is to ensure seniors maintain their independence and quality of life, while giving families peace of mind. It’s about creating a safe and comfortable environment at home, and that’s what makes our work so fulfilling. I often refer to our services as being matchmakers, since we connect families with caregivers that match their schedule, personalities, hobbies and care needs. The connections these families make with our caregivers are truly special.
My journey into senior care started with a deep passion for helping others and a desire to make a positive impact on families and individuals in need. After witnessing the challenges my own family faced with caregiving, my husband and I knew we wanted to create something that truly supported both seniors and their loved ones. Professionally, I’m focused on providing personalized, compassionate care that allows seniors to age with dignity while helping their families feel supported every step of the way. My mission is to continuously enhance the quality of our services, expand our reach, and make a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve.
What’s truly special about our services is getting to know the families and approaching each conversation with empathy to their unique situation. There are many times that a son, daughter, or spouse will call because they are in an unexpected crisis situation and they mainly need to be heard. They may call because a loved one fell or they have noticed they need additional care to prevent falls or health decline. I like being a resource that can help them uncover how we can help or provide additional resources and programs. When it comes to senior care, you don’t know what you don’t know. So the more I can help them uncover, the better it is for the family and their loved ones. Some of the programs we can help with are Alzheimers and Dementia care, Parkinson’s care, Veteran Benefits for Veterans and their spouses, Veteran meetups, and other resources. Yes, our specialty is providing home care but we also want to help them cover all their bases for a better quality of life and peace of mind. We have a page on our site dedicated to events to help enrich the community.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are compassion, adaptability, and a strong work ethic. Compassion has always been at the core of everything I do—it’s what drives me to truly understand and meet the needs of both seniors and their families. Adaptability has been essential in navigating the ever-changing landscape of caregiving, from adjusting care plans to staying ahead of new challenges. Lastly, a strong work ethic has helped me push through obstacles and remain focused on providing the highest quality care, even when things get tough. These qualities have shaped how I approach both my business and the people we care for.
My advice for anyone early in their journey is to lead with empathy and stay open to learning. Compassion isn’t something you can fake, and it’s important to truly care about the people you serve. Take time to listen and understand their needs. When it comes to adaptability, don’t be afraid of change—embrace it. The ability to adjust and grow as new challenges arise will set you apart. And for developing a strong work ethic, it’s about consistency. Show up every day with dedication, even when it’s hard, because the small efforts add up over time. Stay committed to your goals, keep learning, and always remember why you started.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The book that has played an important role in my development is A New Earth: Awakening Your Life’s Purpose by Eckhart Tolle. One of the most valuable lessons I took from it is the importance of being present in each moment, something that has been key both personally and professionally. It taught me how much power there is in staying grounded, especially when making decisions that shape my life and business. Another impactful takeaway was learning to bet on myself—trusting my instincts and embracing the risks needed to grow, whether in my career or personal journey. It’s helped me focus on stepping out of my comfort zone to reach my full potential.
