Meet Anastasia Ovanessoff

We were lucky to catch up with Anastasia Ovanessoff recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Anastasia, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my parents. They are excellent role models and always made a point to teach the importance of having a good work ethic. Through their own successes in life, I grew up watching and learning about how a strong work ethic and drive can take you leaps and bounds farther than anyone else.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a floral designer and I own Juniper & Honey Floral Design Studio. Juniper & Honey is a Denver based florist specializing in weddings and events. As we continue to expand as a business and a brand, our strong work ethic is proving itself to be very positive and successful. We are excited to announce our first formal storefront, located at 1460 South Broadway, Denver, CO.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Planning, preparing, and accepting challenge are the three things that come to mind when I think about my business journey. Planning my business involved writing numerous business plans and allowing ideas to evolve and adapt into what worked the most. I always prepare for the best and the worst. I have a game plan for the best scenarios, and I always have an exit strategy in case things do not go according to plan. Lastly, embracing challenges is so important. In order to grow, you have to allow for yourself to step outside of your comfort zones. I believe all of these qualities allowed me to get to where I am today with my business.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Owning a small business is a lot of work, and I definitely feel overwhelmed often. Even though I am thinking about my business 24/7, there are days when I have to take a step back. As a small business owner, it can be hard to give yourself a day off. I make a point to take time for myself often and enjoy my life outside of work. It helps a lot during those times when it feels like the to-do list is never-ending.
