We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Andie Muller. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Andie below.
Andie, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Discovering my purpose began when I stumbled upon my passion for floristry.
What started as a family business back in Brazil, my home country, soon blossomed into a profound love for the art of floral design.
I started investing heavenly into my education, 14 years ago.
Each arrangement I created became a canvas for my creativity, and I found immense joy in bringing beauty and happiness to others through my work.
From birth to death, flowers are part of everyone’s lives celebrations.
As I honed my skills and shared my creations, I realized that floristry was not just away to make a living, but a calling.
This realization led me to build a fulfilling career, from teaching hands-on floral design classes to running a successful wedding and event floral business in the Orlando and Ocala markets.
Through floristry, I found a way to connect with people, celebrate life’s special moments, and leave a lasting impact, ultimately finding my true purpose.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My journey as a volunteer, educator, and florist has been deeply fulfilling, driven by my passion for teaching and giving back to the florist community.
From the early days of my floristry career, I recognized the profound impact that sharing knowledge and skills could have on others.
I had a hard time finding people that would like to mentor me. So that is one of the reasons I try to mentor as many people as possible.
As an educator, I have had the privilege of teaching hands-on floral design classes, where I not only teaching techniques but also inspire creativity and confidence in my students.
Starting in October/ 2024, I will be starting a new position as an educator.
I can’t release many details, but I am super excited!
Volunteering has allowed me to extend this gift of teaching to those in need, mentoring aspiring florists that need guidance, and don’t know how to get a formal education or find resources.
Whether working with local organizations, participating in community events, or offering guidance to individuals, I have found immense joy in seeing others flourish and succeed.
I want everyone to be better than I am.
This journey has reinforced my belief that the true essence of floristry lies not just in creating beautiful arrangements but in fostering growth, nurturing talent, and giving back to the community that has supported me.
I have been elected VP for the AIFD Southern Chapter, the highest florist organization in the USA.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Passion: anything you do with passion, will be easier to accomplish.
Willingness to learn and to share: no one is a competitor. We are all colleagues.
Creativity: look everywhere for inspiration. If you have an open mind, you will find inspiration anywhere.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
From a young age, my parents showed me the principles of entrepreneurship that have shaped my journey.
They taught me the value of hard work, resilience, and the importance of pursuing your passion.
I grew up watching them manage their business with dedication and integrity, working 7 days a week, 6 am to 8 pm, every single day, learning firsthand the significance of customer service and building strong relationships.
They encourage me to think creatively and adapt to changing circumstances.
Through their guidance, I understood the importance of financial support, planning ahead, and the willingness to take risks.
What was the worst? If didn’t work, at least I have experienced and tried.
Their lessons in perseverance and maintaining a positive mindset, even in the face of challenges, have been invaluable.
These foundational teachings have empowered me to carve my path as a floral artist and business owner, blending my creativity with sound entrepreneurial practices to build a successful and fulfilling career.
I am forever thankful!
