Meet Andre Ferguson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andre Ferguson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Andre, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.
I never experienced writers block, I just create art everyday and on the days that I don’t create anything I watch tv and film that inspires me

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a filmmaker. Writer, producer and director. Back in 2017 I started out writing on Power. I also wrote on PowerBook 2 Ghost. Currently I am working on several projects which I am not able to disclose any information on as of yet.

I also own a trucking company, tmoltrucking.com is a company that I along with my business partner have built from the ground up. This company allows me to have a income outside of the entertainment industry which is important because after the strike I realized you can not depend on the entertainment industry to pay your bills. Well atleast until you write a hit tv series or a feature film that breaks box office records!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that were most impactful in my journey were a good work ethic, networking skills, and mastering the art of not giving a f**k. My only advice to people would be to understand that when you have faith and when you doubt yourself they are both beliefs. Use all that energy to believe in yourself, never doubt yourself. And don’t get caught up overthinking about how you may look. Master the art of not giving a f**k and go achieve the goals and dreams you desire!

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
A book that I wrote called Go Get That Bag: A Real Estate Investors Journey & Motivational Handbook

Played an important role in my development because during the process of writing it I sat down and talked to several wealthy, successful black real estate investors. The biggest nugget of wisdom I walked away from that with is “If you do not see great riches in your imagination, you will never see them in your bank balance.” And “Every adversity brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage.”
