Meet Andrea Dawkins

We were lucky to catch up with Andrea Dawkins recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

Hi I get my work ethic from my mother and father. I am a first time generation and one of the pillars of my childhood after our faith is education.

The lesson was always instilled in me is the vaule of being a person of integrity, to make sure that whatever I start I finish and to always put my heart into whatever I was doing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Andrea Dawkins Photography is a natural light family portrait and personal branding photographer based out of Long Beach, CA serving throughout Southern California. I specialize in family portraits and personal branding photography that captures the essence of who you are. My goal is rooted in celebrating authenticity and connection. Every session is an opportunity to honor your beautiful unique story—whether through the love and laughter shared in your family or the passion and purpose driving your brand. I strive to create timeless images that reflect the beauty, emotion, and meaning in each moment we capture together!!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three qualities that were most impactful in my photography journey is first to ensure authenticity in my work, my style and the process for the clients I serve , also to be able to embrace the moment with the families especially serving alot of families with small kids ,I’ve give to my clients the quailty of patience which they appreciate tremendously because it allows the kids to be kids and allow the parents to not be stressed rather be able to enjoy their family . Lastly efficiency I always ensure that I provide the clients their work back sooner then they expect.

the advice I would give is to get in community with other like minded photographers or business entrepreneurs. I would tell them to stay true to their art and style , its okay to experiment but typically when one picks up a camera there something about what they love with what they capture. sometimes when a person decides to turn it into a business they start to look and compare at others or what looks trendy those things can make someone lose the interest and spark that makes their art theirs.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is a family and/or a business owner who is seeking to capture life in an authentic way, they are focused more on connection with their family or within their mission that they are promoting vs appearing perfect..someone who is open to be guided in a way to capture their unique and special personality and style.
