Meet Andrea L. Wehlann

We were lucky to catch up with Andrea L. Wehlann recently and have shared our conversation below.

Andrea L., thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.

My generosity comes from experiencing and practicing impermanence in my yoga and Zen studies and applying it to my life. I trust my life is for the well being of others, There is no yoga without ethics and being a yogi, one of the yamas is non-possessiveness or generosity. I embody this . At my yoga studio, Ganga Moon Yoga & Reiki Skool, there is a Dana box on the entrance desk, Dana in my Buddhist studies is the act of whole hearted giving. This is where students place their money for the classes, the practice of giving, being generous. Another space my generosity comes from is in the practice of Savasana, or final relaxation pose in yoga. I teach this as a practice of generosity, it is called corpse pose, or the practice of dying. This can be seen as an act of generosity of giving the body back to nature. We practice dying in yoga, or generosity, so we can wake up and appreciate our lives just as they are and not how we think they should be.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Today, Andrea L. Wehlann is Founder & CEO of Ganga Moon Yoga & Reiki Skool, a bestselling author and poet. She’s a highly regarded expert in yoga -a Certified Hatha Yoga Teacher. She’s also a social worker with a BA in Psychology from Brock University and a Social Services Diploma from Niagara College.
As accomplished as Wehlann is, she makes clear that she has faced and triumphed over – many struggles, too. Her source of dedication to spiritual healing derives from surviving childhood mental, physical and emotional abuse, as well as surviving rape, sexual
assault and infant loss. The hugely traumatic things she lived through as a child and young person led to her experiences with bulimia, depression, and suicidal tendencies. The fact that she found positive ways to make it through all of that combined with her professional knowledge makes her not only a true inspiration – but a passionate teacher and unique leader in the wellness space.
She shares her unique insights derived from both the personal and the professional in her three impactful books.

-Deeper Days: 365 Yoga-spirations for Inner Calm Amidst Chaos (“a lovingly crafted book to get you moving through the world with love, to help you take a moment to breathe, and find stillness in daily reflection. It guides you along your yogic path to realizing your divine potential.”)

-No Matter How Dark The Stain: Poems and Inspiration for the Woman in Pain (“Essentially a collection of love poems for anxious people, it meets people in their darkest space and gives a breath of life to the pain and feelings that haunt us and keep bad patterns recurring.”)

And….

The most recent is Stillness In The Storm, subtitled “A Conscious Daily Journal of Yoga & Spiritual Healing,” a book Andrea created to help readers do just that: “to let mind and spirit intersect and to celebrate the power of hearing the heart in the here and now.”

Andrea is most excited about her two journals published in 2023 and 2024, as an author she has a love affair with inspirational quotes, blank pages for writing and a cute pen collection. One journal is titled; Write Coffee Love Yoga. Her newest journal released in July 2024 is titled: Shining Light on Darkness, A Journal Invoking Rising to Full Loving Nature Potential. Both are available from Amazon. Andrea’s journals are 250 pages one can write on, She believes one day they may be your book you pass along to your children or the wisdom you leave upon the planet.

Andrea hosted her first yoga retreat weekend this year in September 2023. She is excited to host more retreats from now on. Look for recent events on Eventbrite website or on her Facebook Page Ganga Moon Yoga & Reiki Skool.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

My psychology degree from Brock University is an asset to my life. My Father taught me having an education is invaluable and no-one can ever take it from you. I will pass this onto anyone early in their journey: an education and or an investment in yourself is the greatest of assets. Through Zen, Buddhist studies I learned how the mind works. Knowing how your mind functions allows you an immense gift, to be able to detach from any wheels of reactivity and allows you to act and live from a creative space within you. Becoming a certified Hatha Yoga Instructor, then studying Ashtanga yoga in Toronto along with continuing my yoga courses today, allows me to ebb and flow with the challenges, stressors and magic of nature, life and existence. Yoga provides tools of consciousness that can lessen the suffering of life. I have been able to develop an inner GPS that helps many others reflect their light back to them when they become stuck within the inner terrains of thinking and feelings. This is an absolute quality I suggest anyone ho feels pulled to follow. Their is an inner intelligence within you now, and I encourage you to follow this sensation.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I am looking to collaborate and partner with a publisher for my upcoming books. I have 3 books written that are not published as of yet. I am looking for podcast hosts that align with my book titles and who want to contribute to self love, self healing and transformation. I am looking to connect with fellow poets and poetry communities as I have thousands of unpublished poems also. I would love to collaborate with other female entrepreneurs to grow my brand and increase my reach worldwide.
