Meet ANDREA LANE

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to ANDREA LANE. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

ANDREA, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I started out as a dancer at the Performing Arts High School in Louisville, Ky. I had a lot of angst and stress as a young person so I began writing poems to express myself. I would write and write without rules or goals. I realized that I had a gift for writing short poems and it evolved into songwriting over the years. Initially, I wrote punk rock and then straight rock. I ended up in church and became inspired by keeping a positive mindset. From here, I began writing uplifting and inspiring songs to keep myself happy. People seemed to respond to my singing and songwriting and that’s where success started to happen. When you align with your purpose, you know it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a singer/songwriter and an actress. I sing regularly in spiritual centers around Los Angeles and occasionally across the United States. My vision is to inspire people to be their authentic selves through the evolution of their soul. I have discovered that being your authentic self permits a lot of freedom. The challenging part is that evolving requires forgiveness and walking a path of love. It’s not always easy to be kind and compassionate. Right now, I’m very focused on writing and finishing my recording of a social activist song entitled ‘ReparationZ’. I’ve been studying Black History and learning about all people of color who have been mistreated over the years. My intention here is to bring light to the subject and find ways to inspire reparations for people of color. Since my schedule is full of live gigs, I have to carve out the time to complete my recordings.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most impactful experience has been studying and living spirituality. That means reading any book about a soul’s journey that can possibly assist transformation. It means meditating daily, the practice of yoga, eating well, sleeping well and keeping a disciplined schedule.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
