We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andrea Lenneman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrea, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I’ve always been fortunate to have a naturally strong sense of self-worth and to feel comfortable in my own skin. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t had my share of challenges. I see confidence and self-esteem as a muscle, you have to keep using it, stretching it, and strengthening it. For me, it’s been an ongoing practice of intentionally putting myself in situations that feel slightly uncomfortable but are essential for growth. Over time, those small stretches build clarity, resilience, and a deeper familiarity with who you are. That’s where confidence really expands!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m an event florist who is transitioning into a more artistic and expressive direction with my work. I’ve had the privilege of creating florals for many weddings and events, but I’ve discovered that my true passion lives in installations and pieces that feel more like art than arrangements. I’m still in an exploratory phase as I carve out this new path, but I’m excited about the evolution, the experimentation, and the work that will emerge along the way.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, my top three qualities/skills would be:
Curiosity, allowing myself to follow my instincts instead of conforming to the norm has opened every major door in my path.
Communication & brand awareness, understanding how to articulate my vision and how others perceive my work has shaped my direction and opportunities.
And learning to pivot, embracing mistakes, taking the lesson, and adjusting quickly has been one of the most valuable skills in my evolution as an artist.
My advice is in 2 parts. First, start with community. Seek out artists whose work inspires you and don’t be afraid to reach out, ask shadow them, take a class, intern, or work alongside them. Seeing different creative processes up close accelerates your own growth.
Next is to develop grit. This path requires consistency, heart, and a deep belief in your vision. Building a brand or a business comes with real sacrifices, but if you love what you do, that effort becomes part of the art. Stay open, stay hungry, and trust the long game!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely, yes! I’m always excited to partner with brands that are looking to bring their spaces or events to life through floral installations, artistic pieces, or creative brand moments. Whether it’s a storefront activation, a work event, or something completely outside the box, I love collaborating to create something immersive and memorable.
I’m also eager to connect with other floral designers, especially those who lean into artistic, unconventional arrangements or large-scale installations. There’s nothing more inspiring than sharing ideas, experimenting together, and learning from each other’s process.
