Meet Andrea Tassoni

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andrea Tassoni a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?

I do believe, that as women, often times the biggest nay-sayer is the voice in our own head. Starting a new career well into my fifties after previously being an educator and then a stay at home mom, well let’s just say I was my own worst critic. And I’m pretty sure that others saw this as a little hobby that I was doing to keep myself busy once my kids were all out of the house. In all honesty, there may have been some truth to that and although I don’t believe I had haters per se, I definitely had doubters.

So how did I persist? I had a vision of what I wanted my business to look like and every day I took one more step towards making that happen. I invested in my education. I put myself out there in ways I had never done before. I got comfortable with being uncomfortable. I surrounded myself with people who believed in me and supported my goals. I practiced my newly acquired skills with good friends, and the more I learned, the more my confidence grew and the quieter the doubting voices became, both around me and in my own head. I gave myself time to grow into the health coach I wanted to be, and I trusted the process. Once I realized that I was truly passionate about helping people get healthy and stay healthy, that is when my vision became a reality. I persisted because I believed I had something to offer. It didn’t happen overnight, but I am grateful that I stayed the course because I not only love what I do, but I am also good at what I do. And you can only find that out if you are willing to push through the negativity and chart your own path.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a holistic health and nutrition coach. I work virtually with clients all over the country, coaching them on how to live their best life, for a long life. My clients vary in ages, stages, and goals but at the core, all of them are trying to build a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. My job is to educate, guide, and support them on this journey and to remind them that our health matters, on and off the scale. I have found that people are looking for a lifestyle not a diet and so learning what foods heal and which foods hurt is a big piece of the puzzle. Recognizing that it’s all connected- our diet, sleep, exercise, hydration, gut health, hormones, digestion, environment, stress management, and our relationships all play a role in how our body functions. Knowing this can be eye opening for many and takes the focus away from a “food only” approach and helps address other important aspects. Teaching clients the simple yet effective technique of awareness can quickly change the game and produce results. In addition, holding people accountable to the goals they set each week can make all the difference. This is what sets me apart and why I only take a small number of clients at a time. My clients hear from me through out the week – to answer questions, cheer them on, and remind them of their goals. Ultimately my job is to work myself out of a job, and I find great satisfaction in knowing that when my clients leave me, not only have they reached their goals, but they now have the tools, habits, and strategies to maintain their new weight, fitness, and lifestyle.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I have found, throughout out my journey, that curiosity, resilience, and passion have helped me to stay focused on my goals, regardless of the bumps and distractions that got in my way. I also believe that you have to trust your instincts and intuition when it comes to knowing the right time to jump into something brand new and chart a different course. If you aren’t excited about it, you shouldn’t be doing it! It is also helpful to be surrounded by people who support and encourage you, but who are also realistic and honest as well. Finally, every single day you have to be willing to pick yourself up, learn from your mistakes, and adjust accordingly. A growth mindset is the only way forward!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I am always interested in extending my outreach and growing my community. I would love to collaborate with fitness professionals who have clients that need help beyond exercise to reach their personal goals. Whether that be nutrition, gut health, hormone balance, digestive issues- all of these can hinder weight loss and are all areas where I can contribute. Collaborations with health professionals who do not have the time to coach their clients, but would like to see them lose weight and change their lifestyle habits is another area where I could be of value. I am a true believer in preventative health. The more we can help people improve their overall health so that they never receive a diagnosis, the better! I am open to any and all options when it comes to sharing what I do with like minded individuals. I can be reached at [email protected].
