Meet Andrea Walker

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Andrea Walker. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Andrea below.

Andrea, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from my core beliefs and family values. I learned early on that my goals were attainable with hard work and dedication. I dealt with adversity in all aspects of life. I changed my mindset to remain positive in difficult situations. My best advice is to focus on what is working, stay consistent, and have faith. Challenges are open doors to new opportunities.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a mother of 3 daughters. I work full time as a Health Inspector. In addition to working as a Health Inspector, I sell custom and special occasions door wreaths. I’m very excited to soon be adding home decor and kitchen appliances to my collection. These items will coordinate with colors from the door wreath. My goal is to offer my customers a unique style of design and that catch the eye of the neighbors.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities most impactful in my journey were dedication, perseverance, and consistency. Dedicate your time and skills towards your goals. Don’t be afraid to fail. Failure comes with an opportunity for growth and wisdom. It’s important to remain positive and confident through set-backs. Ask for assistance when needed. Always comeback stronger.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
I recall being a little girl and seeing my parents help and be kind to strangers who were in need. They taught me the value of generosity. To always treat others with respect and compassion. If you can help others help. Stay positive and persevere through adversity with faith.
