Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andreas Pita. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Andreas, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I’ve always looked up to mentors, whether they are chefs, artists, or successful friends. I’ve had four heart surgeries, spending over a year in the hospital receiving treatment. As an adult, after two of these surgeries, I became even more determined to push myself beyond what I thought I was capable of achieving.
I feel a deep sense of gratitude, almost as if I owe something to life, knowing that I wasn’t necessarily supposed to be here this long. Because of that, I’m driven to seize every opportunity and push my limits until I reach my ultimate goal, though, in many ways, that goal is still not determinate.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Birdie Cakes embodies two of my greatest passions: golf and pastry.
For the past nine years, I traveled across different countries while working for Ladurée. Since childhood, I had always dreamed of living in Los Angeles, and at 28, I finally made it happen. A few months after settling in, I picked up golf and quickly realized how much it parallels pastry. Both require intense focus—whether it’s four hours on the course or countless hours perfecting a recipe. The dedication, discipline, and obsession needed to improve at golf felt exactly like my journey in pastry.
I spent two years developing Birdie Cakes before finalizing the product. I designed a custom mold in Italy, sourced the packaging, perfected the recipes, and built the business model from the ground up. Birdie Cakes isn’t just fun I take great pride in the ingredients and recipe that I used, it is still a high-end pastry, and that’s the most important for me.
We first soft-launched Birdie Cakes at our local golf course, Penmar, during last year’s summer festival, and it was a huge success. We then took things further by sponsoring the New York Golf Club for the new Tiger Woods league. Recently, we signed Brentwood Country Club as our first official partner. Though Birdie Cakes hasn’t officially launched yet, demand is growing, with multiple locations already interested.
Right now, I’m working on a shippable version to ensure everyone can experience Birdie Cakes before the big launch.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I don’t consider myself an elite chef, French chefs are like war machines when it comes to precision and creativity. But my strengths lie elsewhere.
I am extremely determined and hard-working. Once I have an idea, I will see it through, no matter how long or difficult the process is. I also have a strong sense of organization. Whether managing small or large teams, I’ve always believed that success comes from having a solid plan and giving yourself enough time to execute it. With the right preparation, anything is achievable.
Another key quality of mine is the social aspect of my journey. I’ve built lasting relationships with my teams everywhere I’ve worked, and most of my business comes from connection, whether through golf, the classes I teach, or my videos on Instagram. I treat my kitchen like my home, and the people in it are my family.
Advice I’d give to anyone:
Have a plan. Think ahead, consider different scenarios, and always work 6 to 12 months in advance. That way, you’ll always have a solution when challenges arise.
Hard work. There’s no secret formula. I don’t count my hours anymore—I just put in the work. Focus on what you do best, and don’t be afraid to surround yourself with people who complement your weaknesses. Whether you hire them or learn from them, having the right people around you is invaluable. That’s why my best friend is now my business partner—we bring out the best in each other.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Every two weeks, I feel overwhelmed because Birdie Cakes is just one part of my main business, Creations by Andreas, which supplies luxury desserts and breakfast items to high-end restaurants and coffee shops. Each week brings new challenges whether it’s developing a new creation, handling financial concerns, dealing with limited kitchen space, or managing an intense workload.
My approach to staying on top of everything has always been simple but effective:
Make a list of everything that needs to be done.
Prioritize tasks from most to least important.
Tackle them one by one.
A small but crucial detail, write the list down somewhere visible. Crossing off completed tasks creates a sense of progress and keeps me motivated to keep pushing forward.
