Meet Andreka “lynn” Howard

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Andreka “lynn” Howard. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Andreka “Lynn” below.

Andreka “Lynn”, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I developed my confidence and positive self-esteem through failure and constructive criticism. Missing my intended “mark” has always brought an instant state of clarity. Self-reflection always followed and it was in those vulnerable moments I developed the ability to see my value and contributions regardless of the outcome.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Lynn Howard, LLC is a boutique consulting firm offering corporate and nonprofit clients bespoke services. Many of our clients take advantage of strategic communications, branding, event experience design and event production services. Our ability to serve multiple clients with varied missions while providing concierge level service is what I find most exciting.

The company’s focus is our client’s success and their long-term sustainability. Our brand is one that thrives on discretion and autonomy. When our team interfaces with patrons of our clients we are representing our client’s brand not our own. That approach allows us to deepen our business relationships and upgrade one-time clients to recurring ones.

“Listen to Lynn” is our COO’s favorite phrase. Our clients who do are never sorry that they did.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Self-awareness, grit, and having the audacity to take up space in every room have served me well in my professional journey. I recall sitting quietly in board rooms unwilling to openly contribute my ideas and experiences. Well, that simply does not serve anyone.

If you are early in your professional journey remember you are in the room for a reason and its never by accident. Contribute to the strategy and discussions taking place. Do not wait until someone tells you to “go.” I recommend you take a deep breath and jump, every single chance you get.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

Honestly, I am fortunate enough to have a LIST of individuals who have invested in my success. My professional mentor, CEO of the Southern Foundation, Alfred E. Harrell III taught me the definition of grit and discipline through daily action. My personal mentors, Kathy Victorian, and Eilleen Thompson helped me understand the importance of volunteerism and the power of restraint. My closest friends, Ashley Myles, Ann Tillage, Morgan Hilliard, and Lakeisha Pruitt are mine when it’s easy and when it’s difficult. My parents, who have done more than I can compute to ensure my continued success. My family and work-family with an abundance of gratitude to my COO, Joshua, who runs the company, and me. I would be much less without their commitment to my talents.
