Meet Andres Rossi

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andres Rossi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Andres, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
By taking hikes through the hills, to keep my sense of awe alive, activate my imagination, and restore cognitive functions. I also like engaging in creative conversations with colleagues, mentors, and animation students who come to learn at my workshops.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the founder and director of Wildthings, an animation studio, and Espacio el Molino, a creative training center surrounded by nature.

With over 15 years of experience working for major brands, I am a passionate creative who loves to tell stories that add value.
I decided to leave the city and live in nature a while back, and I founded a boutique animation studio in the mountains. Here, I lead a team of artists where outdoor walks and riverside meetings are part of our routine as we seek to live more sustainably. This combination of creativity and nature is reflected in our work, which achieves an emotional connection with the audience and a different way of seeing things.

In addition, I am an animation mentor with experience in courses and talks in different spaces and platforms. I founded a training and cultural events space for creatives nestled in the beautiful mountains of Cordoba, Argentina.

I am also an advocate for awareness and inclusion of people with Down syndrome, as I am a proud father of one.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Main skills are 1. Multidisciplinary Expertise:
With a background in film and television, I have multidisciplinary expertise in various aspects of the industry, including animation, design, and illustration, which have been instrumental in navigating diverse projects.

2. Passion for Education and Inclusion:
My passion for education, evident through teaching animation and founding an educational space, Espacio el Molino, reflects a commitment to sharing knowledge. Additionally, being an advocate for the rights of individuals with Down syndrome showcases a dedication to inclusivity.

3. Entrepreneurial Vision:
Establishing and leading Wildthings, a boutique commercial animation studio, forged an entrepreneurial vision. This quality, combined with the ability to collaborate with major clients like Disney and Facebook, underscores effective leadership and business acumen in the creative industry.

For folks who are early in their journey I´d recommend to Embrace Continuous Learning, Build a Network and Seek Mentorship, Undertake passion projects or side ventures that align with your interests, Be Open to Collaboration and remember that every journey is unique, and there’s no one-size-fits-all formula for success. Stay passionate, stay curious, and be resilient in the face of challenges.
