Meet Andrew Corter

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andrew Corter. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Andrew, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.

Truly by creating balance. Merman Andrew, my company Trident Tails Entertainment and my human side are all completely separate. Yes they overlap occasionally but, by compartmentalizing my life it has made me avoid burn out.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

From shimmering tails to worldwide stages, Merman Andrew has transformed a childhood dream into a global phenomenon. As the founder of Trident Tails Entertainment, Andrew is more than just a merman – he’s a visionary entrepreneur, performer, and brand ambassador who brings magic to life.

You’ve seen him on Netflix, Apple TV, and international stages, dazzling audiences with his aquatic grace and powerful presence. When he’s not making waves on screen, he’s captivating crowds at Renaissance festivals, leading Mermaid Grottos, and curating spectacular shows featuring mermaids, fire dancers, aerialists, and more.

Andrew also spends his time mentoring new talent and bringing his passion for underwater performance to life in Canada’s Mermaid March Break with Mermaids Make Waves. His dedication to fitness, his bold carnivore lifestyle, and his relentless drive have made him a standout figure in the mer-community and entertainment world alike.

Whether he’s diving deep into the ocean, commanding the spotlight in a tank show, or scaling new heights in the entertainment industry – Merman Andrew is a tidal force you won’t forget.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Number one- Separate business and friendship. Although your friends may be in the same field they may not be prepared to perform at the level you need.

Number two- On the separation category everyone auditions. Have a separate team look over the group and you see final selections from their top picks. Then that separates anyone who can not meet the requirements.

Number three- We are grown adults in Mermaid tails. It is not that serious. Yes take your business seriously but remember we are humans playing magical creatures.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Knowing what to truly invest my time in. When I started my company nearly 8 years ago if you had said what is your goal with the company my answer then is no where near what it is now.
