Meet Andy Li

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andy Li a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Andy, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Finding my purpose has been a journey of blending passion with innovation. I grew up immersed in music, inspired by my grandfather’s philosophy that “there are no wrong notes, only paths requiring resolution.” This shaped my belief in creativity without boundaries. Over time, I realized that my true purpose lies in merging technology with art to create immersive, meaningful experiences. Moments like my first multimedia show, where I combined piano with visual storytelling, confirmed this path. Seeing the audience’s emotional connection validated that this is where I’m meant to be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

iANDY Studio is my creative home, where music, technology, and storytelling merge to transform traditional performances into cutting-edge, interactive experiences. What began as a passion project has evolved into a space for innovation, bridging the gap between classic performance arts and modern tech. Early on, I organized events that integrated music with interactive visuals, inviting audiences to not just watch but truly experience the art.

Consistency has been the foundation of iANDY Studio’s success. From crafting visually stunning events to mentoring others in multimedia techniques, my goal has always been to deliver unforgettable and immersive experiences.

We’re currently expanding our offerings with exciting projects, including our live electronic music series and collaborations with international artists. It’s an incredible time for iANDY Studio as we redefine how audiences engage with art in this digital age, inspiring others to see the limitless possibilities of combining technology and creativity.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Adaptability came from handling unexpected challenges, like when a project’s software crashed midway through. Instead of panicking, I found quick solutions, rebuilt the work, and learned to embrace changes as opportunities.

Collaboration has been essential. Working with international artists on a VR and live music project taught me the power of teamwork. By combining different ideas and skills, we created something far beyond what I could’ve done alone.

Creative problem-solving became my go-to skill during high-pressure moments, like when a projector failed right before a show. I quickly reworked the setup to ensure the audience never knew there was an issue.

For anyone starting out, I’d say: embrace challenges, work with others who inspire you, and don’t be afraid to experiment. That’s where growth and innovation happen.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?

I believe in a balanced approach—play to your strengths, but don’t ignore your weaknesses. Your strengths are where you shine and what sets you apart, so going all in on them helps you stand out and excel. However, improving weaknesses ensures you’re well-rounded and adaptable, especially when challenges require skills outside your comfort zone.

For example, I’ve always been strong in live performance, but early in my career, I struggled with understanding all the technical aspects like live visual integration. Instead of avoiding it, I took the time to learn and experiment. That effort not only expanded my skill set but also opened doors to exciting projects, like blending music with live experiences in a way that now defines my brand.

Ultimately, strengths help you thrive, and improving weaknesses helps you grow. It’s about knowing when to lean into your talents and when to step out of your comfort zone to embrace new opportunities.
