We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andy Li a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Andy, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
My creativity is driven by curiosity and collaboration. This year, that curiosity led me to expand beyond live performance design into content creation—directing music videos, producing photoshoots, and crafting visual stories for artists. Every project feels like a new conversation between sound and image.
What’s been especially inspiring is the diversity of work we’ve done through iANDY Studio. We recently designed the lighting and audio production for a major fashion show, working alongside renowned designers and models. It was a big moment for us—transforming a runway into a full sensory experience where the lighting and music told a story as vivid as the fashion itself.
In contrast, we also created an intimate café performance series, inspired by Tiny Desk concerts. We transformed a small café into a cozy, cinematic space that not only elevated the artists’ performances but also boosted the café’s atmosphere and sales. Projects like these remind me how creativity thrives in both scale and intimacy—each one requires the same heartbeat of storytelling and design.
Next month, we’re producing an immersive projection-mapping installation for a museum, which brings everything full circle—music, light, and narrative woven together into a single experience. I stay creative by constantly shifting perspectives, learning from every collaboration, and finding new ways to let sound and visuals speak to each other.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
At iANDY Studio, my focus is on building bridges between art, technology, and storytelling. We specialize in live show design, photography, and video production—helping artists and brands bring their vision to life in ways that feel both emotional and visually bold.
What excites me most is how fluid this world has become. One day I’m working on a high-fashion runway, the next I’m behind the camera capturing a music video or refining lighting cues for a live performance. The common thread is the energy of collaboration—the way every project becomes a shared journey of discovery.
iANDY Studio has evolved into a space where creativity doesn’t sit still. We’re working with musicians, designers, and institutions who want to push beyond the expected, blending modern technology with human emotion. Every show, video, or installation we create aims to connect people—to make them feel something real in a world that moves fast.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that have defined my journey are adaptability, curiosity, and collaboration.
Adaptability has been key, especially as my work evolved from stage performance to large-scale productions and digital storytelling. Each new challenge—whether it’s syncing lighting for a runway or cutting a music video—requires a new rhythm.
Curiosity is what keeps me moving forward. I’ve learned that creativity grows when you stay open to trying things you don’t yet understand. Many of my favorite projects began as experiments, from early visual installations to interactive shows that blurred the line between audience and artist.
And collaboration is what makes everything possible. Working with talented musicians, photographers, and designers has shown me that innovation happens when ideas collide. The best results always come from shared vision and mutual respect.
My advice to anyone starting out is simple: stay flexible, keep learning, and surround yourself with people who inspire you. Every skill can be taught—but creative energy thrives when you stay curious and connected.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely. iANDY Studio is always open to collaborating with artists, filmmakers, designers, and brands who want to explore the intersection of art and technology. Whether it’s crafting immersive live shows, shooting music videos, or designing experiential spaces, I love working with people who see creativity as a language that goes beyond words.
We’re especially interested in projects that fuse music, visual design, and storytelling—the kind that challenge what performance or media can be. If you’re reading this and want to collaborate, reach out. The most meaningful art happens when different minds come together to build something new.
