Meet Anel Flores

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anel Flores. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Anel, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Engaging in volunteer work and contributing to causes I deeply cared about led me to realize that my purpose involved making a positive difference in areas that needed attention. I think that we do not have to loose perspective so probably through overcoming obstacles and adversities, I found strength and resilience that shaped my purpose. These experiences showed me the importance of using my strengths to make a positive impact.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am from Mexico City, living in Franklin, Tn since 2017. I earned a degree in communication and public relations, with an emphasis in digital marketing, from the Universidad Latinoamericana in Mexico City. Years before completing my degree, I had the opportunity to start my social service as a content writer, an experience that later allowed me to be part of the Editing and Content department for the International News at TV Azteca, one of the most important communication networks in Mexico at present. In fact, I had the oportunity of covering events of great relevance, such as the war in Iraq, the death of Saddam Hussein, the Tsunami in Indonesia, and the death of Pope John Paul II, among others, collaborating and preparing all the material that was broadcasted on various news programs alongside our correspondents to bring up-to-date information to our viewers. I founded Stereonashville in 2019 and Chilanga in Tennessee in 2022, both bilingual digital platforms where people can find recommendations of where to go, advice, tips, memes, news, interviews with personalities from politics, sports, and artists, community service, job search, support for entrepreneurs, coverage of all kinds of events. This year, I joined the team at El Jefe FM 96.7 and 105.3 FM radio station, within the morning show. Since 2018, I have been a part of the board of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Nashville and the board of Better Options Tennessee, located in Franklin, TN. At the same time, I work for a software development company in Mexico, as a Project Manager. So, thanks to this work experience, I have been able to combine my knowledge in both technology and communication to help my community in any way I can. If you ask me if it’s enough, of course not. I can be sure that we still have a long way to go. But thanks to the work of many people, we have seen that little by little, a relationship has been built between the Hispanic community and the authorities of this state.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Working without expecting anything in return, with non-profit organizations to help distribute messages, activities, classes, courses that leave a message for our community. The most exicting thing of. being doing this, is that you have the power to help a lot of people but for that you have to always have on mind that you have to be ethic, respectful, serious and responsasible of what you will say. Have a microphone and talk is one of the most powerful things a person can have, but at the same time could be really dangerous, so you have to be sure of what you will say. I think that the best advice is to take seriously this profession, to research about your public, to connect with organizations and authorities and to love helping people.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
This job always requires to work with a lot of people everyone is welcome: photographers, cameraman, video editing. They can contact me on my email: anel@stereonashville,com
