Meet Angel Padulo

We recently connected with Angel Padulo and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Angel, great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.

I believe in order to live life to the fullest you have to be willing to take risks. Life is full of amazing opportunities, as well as incredible difficulties. I have learned the most from my failures, not my successes and that is what allows me to take risks. If you want something, you have to be willing to work hard to get it even if that means failing repeatedly. I took a big risk in my younger years and I never looked back. Once you take the leap anything is possible. Just go for it!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I currently wear two hats—or perhaps three if you count my 24/7 role as a mom to two brilliant and adorable girls. I am the founder of investHER Academy and Startup Smart Kids, organizations dedicated to teaching women and children (ages 11 and up) about personal finance and entrepreneurship. Additionally, I serve as the Chief Operating Officer of Treasure Coast Ventures, a venture capital firm that propels innovators (early-stage startups) to build remarkable companies.

I am most passionate about coaching entrepreneurs to achieve their goals and make a meaningful impact in the world. Being exposed to innovative technologies and witnessing how one person’s idea can transform into a solution for millions is nothing short of incredible.

My husband, Robert, is the Managing Partner of Treasure Coast Ventures, and he has been my greatest teacher in life. The knowledge I’ve gained from him inspires me to share these insights, especially with women entrepreneurs and young girls. Everyone deserves a seat at the table because diverse perspectives lead to better products and outcomes.

I am currently in the process of converting Startup Smart Kids into a nonprofit to provide our Financial Literacy 101 Course to schools free of charge. Personal finance is one of the most important lessons a child can learn, yet it is not being taught in U.S. schools. While schools agree it should be a required course, many lack the budget to implement it. Our solution is not only cost-effective but also capable of creating a lifelong impact for students.

If I had known as a child what I know now about money, I could have avoided years of financial struggle. My mission is to provide the knowledge of financial freedom to all kids. The earlier they learn to save and invest, the brighter their futures will be.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three qualities that I believe guide me throughout my life and career is being able to listen, pivot and believe in myself. Never be afraid to try. Try everything, because the worst that can happen is nothing at all.

We learn the most from our failures. So my advice is to embrace the failures. In order to succeed you must fail and if you allow yourself to be open to failing, then your possibilities are endless.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

Breath! Take a walk. Change your mindset by changing your environment. Life is challenging and finding ways to protect your mental and physical state is a priority. I did not always take care of myself and that was very detrimental. Great sleep, exercise, surrounding myself with the people I love the most, laughing and taking deep breaths are my go to strategies.
