Hi Angela, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

For a long time I didn’t know what my purpose was… I felt lost. I tried so many different things to fill the void. I’ve always been a creative person and always leaned into that. I’ve always tried to use my skills to help supplement my income in hopes that one day it would be profitable enough to make a difference, but it was never enough and each time I gave up. I tried several network marketing companies, I made chalkboard signs for events and businesses, I handmade things like wooden Christmas ornaments, and even went to school for makeup and was even a freelance makeup artist for a while.

Music had also always been a big part of my life. I was always listening to music and going to concerts and local shows as a teenager but I never thought about trying to work in the music industry. I was just an enjoyer of music, until I reconnected with some old friends of mine from high school in 2020. Kyle and Myles Mendes, they’re in a band called NITE and we reconnected after I heard one of their songs on the radio while I was driving home from work one night. I was so excited and so proud of them, so I reached out to tell them! After that I went to one of their shows on Halloween in 2020 and we got to catch up. After that show I realized how amazing and talented they are and I fell in love with their music and I really wanted more people to know about them so I started talking about them on social media and sharing their music with all of my friends.

Now here we are, 4 years later, and I can confidently say that I believe I have finally found my purpose. Not only do I believe that the universe brought us back into each other’s lives for a reason, but I finally feel that sense of purpose I was always searching for. Their music sparked something inside of me that I didn’t even know existed and it brings me so much joy. Through promoting them and sharing their music, I have not only met tons of incredible people, but I have also discovered my gift for being able to bring people together with music and have discovered that I’m actually really good at promoting and marketing and the two work perfectly together. Doing this has also brought me lots of other amazing opportunities that I would’ve never expected- like doing interviews with bands, traveling with friends for concerts, doing merch for my favorite bands, and more!

It’s been quite an adventure, but one I am so beyond thankful for and it’s changed my life in the best way. I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Since I started helping NITE in 2020, I’ve also been able to help other bands as well! So many people see the work I do to promote them and they reach out to me for promotion as well, which is great! I hope to one day be able to work in music full time and I think I have a few goals I’d like to reach.

I would really love to go on tour one day and do photography and videography, which is one thing I do for NITE. I take lots of videos and pictures at all of their shows and I edit them. I make recap videos, short promo videos, travel vlogs when I get to travel for their shows and this helps spread a lot of awareness! I also really enjoy doing merch and just helping out any way I can, so I think I could be a very valuable person to have on the road.

I’d also love to book my own shows and be a promoter as well and work closely with the bands and just help them with whatever they need to make sure they have the best experience and the best show possible!

One big accomplishment for me was being able to help promote Obituary Fest in Dallas for Leah Lane (Singer of Rosegarden Funeral Party). With all of our efforts together, we had an amazing turnout! I would really love more opportunities like this.

I’m really just trying to find any way I can make a career in the music industry because I just love it so much and am very passionate about it.

If anyone has any opportunities that I could pursue, I would love for them to reach out to me!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

To be completely honest, I didn’t know much about the music industry at all before I started helping NITE. Working with them actually opened my eyes a lot to what goes on behind the scenes in the music scene and I’ve learned so much.

I will say at least one skill or quality I had before that I feel like helped me was just my ability to talk to people and not being afraid of what other people think. I’ve always loved meeting new people and talking to people. It’s really been my passion for music that was the catalyst and really made me want to reach out to people, complete strangers! Some people may feel a lot of anxiety about this, but to me, if they don’t like it or don’t like me, then that’s their problem and I just move on to the next. I think part of it might have to do with confidence too that I have built up over time.

By doing this I have helped build a whole community around NITE and have met so many amazing people and made so many close friends- some of my best friends! There have been a few people who decided I was too much for them and we parted ways, but I don’t let that get me down because I’ve had WAY more positive connections than negative ones and I’m not going to stop doing what I love and being myself just because it bothers someone. What someone else thinks of me is none of my business!

All it takes is your mindset.

Aside from that, I am still learning and wanting to learn more about the music industry, but connecting with people and networking is very important in this field.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

I would really like to thank my family and friends for always being there for me and always being a sounding board for me when I am feeling doubtful of my skills or abilities or just feeling anxiety. Sometimes what I do can be challenging and if it wasn’t for my close circle of friends, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today.

Especially Myles and Kyle, who have become some of my closest friends and we are always honest and transparent with each other, which I think makes for a great partnership. Any time I have any doubts, I know I can always come to them and speak my mind without fear of judgement and they have also been super helpful in guiding me on my journey in the music industry. I think that is something very special and rare to come by these days.

Also just want to thank everyone who has been so supportive of me and always lifting me up. It really makes a difference!
