We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Angela Freeman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Angela, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I love to learn new techniques and methods of working. Other people’s artwork and creativity also inspire me to come up with original ideas for my own artwork or graphic designs
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My background is in printing and graphic design, with some photography. But since moving to North East Ohio, I’ve mainly been working on website design, although I do still occasionally do some graphic design or an occasional photoshoot. I’ve also recently taken up art again (drawing and painting) – I hadn’t done any art since leaving school and I’m having so much fun learning how to paint and draw again! I think I’ll always have to do something art-related or creative in my life.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The ability to work on my own, the fact I love learning new techniques or methods and that I can see something worth photographing/painting/drawing everywhere I look. These all help me with my design skills, whether it’s a website, a logo design or an advert!
I would advise other creative people to keep learning new techniques and noticing what’s around you. Keep learning and keep practicing.
Is there a particular challenge
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
I spend too much time on each job. I need to learn better time-management skills.
