Meet Angela Maria Parra Toledo

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angela Maria Parra Toledo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Angela Maria, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Everything began with finding something that truly motivates and inspires me to keep going in this life. My purpose is to make the world a better place for all living beings through my art. I’ve discovered that spreading this positive energy is like spreading a virus. Even on the toughest days, I use various techniques to motivate myself, whether it’s mental tricks, physical activity, or even adjusting my body’s chemistry (with sun, a hug, etc) The key is to take that important first step without overthinking it, and everything else will fall into place. I like to say “Just throw yourself into the pool” Throw or push, but the first step always tends to be the one that needs to be fast, no time to overthink it.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Welcome to my magical world! I’ve been dedicated to the art since I was 13 years old. I’ve explored the realms of Musical Theater, Drama acting, Physical theater, Clown, various styles of dance, Singing, piano, and the exciting world of entertainment. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to develop these disciplines in Peru, Argentina, and now in the vibrant city of Nyc. As a character actress, I’ve portrayed a range of characters, from a funny, lovable fairy to an elderly British woman in a wheelchair. I have so much fun transforming my entire body; it’s like being born again with different circumstances, experiences, and context. Currently, I’m focusing on a new Off Broadway show called Waiting for Lefty with the Soho Shakespeare Company, for which I am infinitely grateful. In addition to all this, I work as an entertainer for kids and a yoga instructor, which completely fills my heart with joy and love.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

1. Consistency, determination, and affection. It’s the secret formula I’m always on the hunt for to reach your aspirations. I have a tendency to push myself too hard or become a workaholic. So, striking a balance between consistency and determination with love, which involves being aware of your mental and physical well-being, is crucial. It’s important to find the right mix of challenging ourselves and taking care of ourselves. By seeking this equilibrium throughout your life journey, you’ll always be in a state of productivity and effectiveness. Furthermore, being open to the idea that teamwork is more beneficial than working alone is a great way to progress faster. And being completely, passionately certain that your goal, your dream, whatever you choose to call it, is meant for you. Even more so, in another dimension of time, it’s already unfolding.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I absolutely love hearing about people’s passions, discoveries, and personal growth. I always seek out those individuals who I can connect with on a deep level, where we can support each other in pursuing our goals and dreams. I truly believe that engaging in conversations and sharing experiences can lead to tremendous personal growth. It’s invigorating to hear different perspectives and it’s incredibly inspiring. So, if you ever want to chat about the wildest, most out-of-this-world ideas, know that I’m here with open ears and a big smile, ready to listen to every bit of it.
