Angela, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?

To avoid burnout as a nail tech, I’ve learned to really take care of my schedule and protect my energy. I make sure to take 2–3 days off a week to rest, recharge, and mentally reset. That time off is sacred—it helps me show up fully for my clients when I’m working.

I also prioritize staying active through sports or physical movement, whether that’s a workout, a walk, or even just stretching. It helps me clear my mind, reduce stress, and stay physically strong, which is important when you’re on your feet or using your hands all day.

Taking vacations when I can—even short getaways—makes a big difference. A change of scenery helps me come back feeling inspired and refreshed.

I also try not to overbook myself, because I choose to prioritize my well-being and make time for the people who matter most—myself and my family. Creating space in my schedule allows me to be more present, both at work and at home, without feeling stretched too thin.

Taking care of myself first has made me a better tech, a better business owner, and a happier person overall.

I would like to introduce myself.
My name is Angela, and I’m a Licensed Nail Technician and the proud owner of Soul Spa Studio is located at 1036 Route 17, Southfields, NY.

I’ve been in the nail industry since 2017, and over the years, I’ve developed a deep passion for not only the art of nail care, but also the importance of precision, hygiene, and client experience. With every year, I’ve continued to grow, learn, and refine my skills to offer the best possible services to my clients.

At my studio, I offer professional manicure and pedicure services, with a focus on long-lasting results and exceptional detail. One of the signature techniques I specialize in is the European E-file manicure, also known as the Russian manicure. This method uses an electronic file for gentle, thorough cuticle exfoliation and nail treatment. It not only gives a crisp, clean finish but also promotes nail health and keeps your manicure looking flawless for longer.

Recently, I’ve expanded my services to include Individual Certification Training —perfect for beginners who want to enter the beauty industry, or for current nail techs looking to learn or master the E-file technique. Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Be patient with yourself, focus on doing quality work, and never stop learning. Every step you take adds up!

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I take a step back and give myself a break. Sometimes that means taking a walk, resting, or just unplugging for a bit. I also make sure to stick to a schedule that gives me time to breathe—I’ve learned not to overbook myself.

My advice: Listen to your body and mind. Don’t be afraid to slow down when you need to. Taking care of yourself helps you come back stronger and more focused.
