We were lucky to catch up with Angelia Robinson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Angelia, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
Wow! I love this question and it’s so befitting. I know that we live in a world where racism, sexism, colorism etc exist but I have been blessed to exude an energy and LOVE that overpowers those negative energies. I am full of love, passion and joy. My gregarious personality and authenticity is at the forefront of my success and the fact that I have never met a stranger works in my favor as well. Therefore, me being the only one that looks like me in the room aids me in becoming the most powerful woman in the room.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
There are many facets to my life and career. A retired recording artist turned Sexual Health Consultant, Author & most recently, Executive Producer. My life has been dedicated to empowering women which in turn has empowered ME. My most recent project (still in the works) is my reality show that will highlight the lives of 6 women (including myself) These women come from various backgrounds, sexual orientation and socio-economic status. They find themselves connected in a very unorthodox way. Suffering hardships throughout their lives such as physical, mental & sexual abuse, incarceration, divorce, poverty and more, these ladies stumble across an opportunity to distribute intimacy products which opens up a whole new world that will take them on a journey from rags to riches.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
CPP- Consistency, Passion & Patience is the key! We live in a microwave society where everyone wants everything right now. Well, nothing that comes easy is going to last in most cases. Success comes from the PROCESS and I had to learn that the hard way. The process is necessary to grow and sustain any success you gain.
