Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angelika Pagan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Angelika with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My mom and dad,100%. They worked so hard.
They raised 4 of us kids, had multiple jobs and were going to school on top of it all. They will forever be my inspiration for life. They just recently retired too. All I want to be able to do is take care of them and help them live there best life.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’ve been doing brows for the last 5 years and it’s honestly been the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. I get to make women feel beautiful all day long. It’s a dream. I recently rebranded my business and renamed it in honor of my incredible aunt. She was such an influential figure in my life, and I idolized her for her hard work, humor, and zest for life. She taught me how to put on lipliner..how to properly care for my skin and nails. And of course, took me to get my eyebrows done for the first time. She always made me feel important, beautiful and loved.
Day in and day out I’ve quickly realized,
That has truly become my mission.
To make every client that sits in my chair, feel the exact same way she used to make me feel. It only made sense to have my business be named in honor of such a special person.
On top of all of that,
I am looking to relocate my business to New York in the near future. It’s going to be extremely challenging,
but I am up for it,and can’t wait to see what happens next.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My thirst for knowledge for sure. I make it a point to take at least 1-2 classes a year so that I stay on top of everything that’s happening in my industry. Not accepting failing as an option.
I’ve always made everything work. If I had to bartend multiple jobs to help keep me afloat while I built my business,I did so. I never gave up no matter how hard it got. And there were definitely moments where I wanted to., but I didn’t. Just stay clear on your path. The light is still always at the end of the tunnel, even when it’s the most dark.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
They were extremely strict and paranoid. Therefore, making me the most paranoid person you will ever meet. In all honestly,I’m so thankful for it all. Even though I hated it deeply growing up. My dad always says
“you gotta keep your antennas up.”
Super cute dad saying, But my head is always on a swivel. I can handle pretty much anything that gets thrown at me because of the way they raised me. And I don’t give up on things easy either.
I love you mom and dad.
