Meet Angeline Johnson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Angeline Johnson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Angeline below.

Hi Angeline, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.

Creative blocks are inevitable, the key isn’t to avoid them but to find ways to push through. For me, that often means collaborating with others for a new perspective, stepping away and allowing myself to focus on other things, or changing my environment. Inspiration tend to come when you least expect it, however admiring or embracing other creative outlets can help pull inspiration forward.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m proud to be an audio engineer. What excites me most about my work is helping artist and musicians bring their vision to life. It’s like adding color to a painting-taking what they hear in their head and making it a reality. I’m not just there to press record; I’m actively involved in the creative process, from guiding vocal performances to shaping the final mix.

Being a woman in a male-dominated field adds another layer of significance to my journey. I take pride in breaking barriers and bringing a fresh perspective to the industry. My brand is all about creativity, collaboration, and pushing the boundaries to make every artist’s music the best it can be.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, three things had the biggest impact on my journey: technical knowledge, mentorship and the willingness to seek help.

First, going to school helped build a strong foundation in the technical aspects of audio engineering-understanding the gear, signal flow, and industry standards. But technical skills alone, weren’t enough. My biggest growth came from amazing mentors who took me under their wing, sharing their techniques and guiding me through the industry. Some of these relationships started from me paying for 1-on-1 sessions, but over time they developed organically into mentorships.

For those just starting out, my advice is to actively seek out people who have already achieved what you’re working towards. Don’t be afraid to reach out, ask questions, and invest in learning from them. In an entrepreneurial career, growth doesn’t happen in isolation-you have to put yourself out there, ask for help and build real relationships.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I’m always looking to connect and collaborate. Whether you’re an artist, musician, songwriter, or a fellow engineer, I’m open to working with anyone who’s passionate about growing in their music journey. Collaboration is a huge part of making great music and I love being apart of that process.
