We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Angelique Hudson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Angelique, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I want to begin with stating it wasn’t something I always had . I didn’t reach full confidence or full self esteem until my relationship with God started getting stronger . The more I studied His word the more I was reminded that God created me in His image and in His likeness. Nobody else gets a say in my beauty , not even me . Once I got to the point to where I could say I’m beautiful because God says I am my entire personality shifted . My confidence grew , my self esteem grew and I was able to walk around with better posture . My confidence and self esteem developed because of God
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Angelique, I’m 26 born in Acres Home Houston Tx , and raised in Tomball Texas . Member of Living Word Fellowship Church , I am a pre k teacher and a very proud Brand Ambassador for The Queens Kollection by Latavia Roberson ! There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1st. Being focused, with modeling you get asked to do a lot of things. You have to be focused enough on your target to know not everything is for you. I have expectations for myself that I refuse to ignore just because the money looks good . If the opportunity causes my focus to shift then I know the opportunity isn’t for me.
2nd . Work ethic , you will only get as far as your work ethic allows . If you say you want to be the next president you should be doing things that will put you in the position to do that . If you desire to be the next amazing chef then you should be taking jobs at restaurants even if it’s at McDonald’s. Work Ethic doesn’t start at the top it starts at the bottom!
3rd . A why , if you don’t have a why you’ll leave choir goals behind as soon as the going gets tuff . Your why can’t be anything thats tangible because tangible things change at the drop of a pen . Your why is attached to your purpose , and your purpose is attached to your brand , your brand is attached to your legacy . All the pieces of this puzzle are apart of what you wish to accomplish. But if you don’t find your why you’ll never have a legacy
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
I’m currently struggling with uterine fibroids. This is something that affects hundreds of women but it hits WOC harder . This is something that unfortunately has been looked at as too taboo to speak on , because nobody wants to speak on the subject it causes more and more women ( including myself) to feel alone in this time . You feel tired and exhausted from doing the most mundane tasks. You’re constantly in pain . If we had more women to stand up and speak on this I truly feel like the treatment would be better than what we have now.
